Pay Rate: $31.76/hr.
SUMMARY
The position works in partnership with plant leadership, Pillar teams and TPM teams to develop and execute strong Training and Development (T&D) plans that drive business results. The candidate will support the T&D pillar, manage the Knowledge Center, and build online learning via Talent Center’s learning management module (LMS). This is an essential role as the plant seeks to strengthen the skillsets and core competencies of all employees.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:
- Drive implementation of training plans with leadership prioritizing based on losses
- Support New Hire Orientation, assisting with training new employees in TPM Methodology and in helping current employee certify in their jobs
- Manage cross training activity for employee development including: creating visibility to all skills (people/jobs) across department, creating qualification/cross training matrix, and providing development plan/guide on building individual curriculum based on gaps
- Develop and deliver creative training via multiple mediums: videos, PPT, hands on models
- Provide guidance to other pillars/departments on creating standard work & other training materials
- Confirm the effectiveness of training via tests, observations, downtime/slowtime analysis
- Assist and lead the T&D Pillar team meetings, participating as an active member and holding responsibilities associated with the T&D Pillar work
- Participate in best practice sharing among T&D Coordinators: via calls, conferences and Box share site
- Coach employees on the One Point Lessons (OPLs) process and on writing them
- Manage the T&D Knowledge Center area
- Identify trainers and ensure they receive skillset/training to be successful; provide guidance on train-the-trainer best practices
- Participate in Division Level projects and support, as needed
Systems & Tools
- Assist in and understand the creation, implementation, and management of TPM tools and activities – Masterplan, step audit, job qualification check sheets, skills matrices, etc as prioritized by AM, FI, PM, and EH&S Pillars
- Manage SMART Academy for the site, partnering with HR, pillar leaders, and trainees, assigning modules to new operators to roles & tracking to completion
- Use sustainable, well-understood storage tool/process for Document Control and Records Management
- Track, review, assess and understand training hours via reports in LMS and BI using the data to prioritize training needs
- Prepare & publicize TPM communications, with the T&D Site Pillar Leader, for site (ex: OC Now, TPM Newsletter)
- Track T&D KAIs/KPIs
Site Support
- Partner with pillar leaders and leadership team to effectively drive TPM throughout the plant
- Drive the Management of Change process related to Training Package materials such as Standard Work, Skills Matrices, and Training Plans to ensure proper documentation is used for training when changes occur
- Participates in the Safety and Housekeeping programs as established within the plant and work areas
- Participates in continuous improvement events
- Basic understanding of the process equipment used in this facility; be willing to shadow the various machines/roles to gain knowledge of plant processes
- Attend/lead various meetings and huddles, as needed
- Attend TPM Team Meetings and be visible on the floor

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The employee should hold the following abilities:
- Proficiently demonstrate math and communication skills
- Ability to read and understand Technical Manuals and Specification Sheets
- Maintain certifications and skill sets necessary to train employees
- Ability to facilitate training in various formats
- Must be self-motivated to work independently and in a group, and meet targets
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Understand loss tree and loss-based training
- Understand & facilitate problem solving – root cause analysis/tools…. breakdown analysis
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
The employee must be able to:
- Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Ability to implement and maintain the Learning Management System within Talent Center
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency
- Computer proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge and TPM Methodology and Training & Development pillars
- Previous experience in CI and/or in creating Standard Work, Skills Matrices and Training Needs Analyses
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needs arise
- Ability to walk/stand throughout the plant for extended periods
- Routinely ascend and descend stairs to enter work areas
- Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – steel toed shoes, ear plugs, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for task
- Operate equipment only when you are trained in its use or are working with or under the direction of a qualified employee, and you are authorized to do so
- Ability to work from heights
