PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Production Team Leader has overall responsibility for an Operational segment (Forming, Fabrication or support functions) at the Amarillo, Texas Composites manufacturing facility. This position helps to evaluate and execute operational strategies, standards and practices to achieve best-in-class performance in:

The position reports directly to the Operations Leader and supervises ~30 primary hourly direct reports. The Operations Team Leader is on a 12-hour rotating shift. 

The Amarillo plant is designed to develop and engage employee strengths. The Production Team Leader will lead team members to support their many opportunities to broaden skills.  Team members are expected to accept responsibility and be accountable for contributing to the successful operation of the plant. We expect pride in workmanship and team involvement in ensuring a safe environment, eliminating waste, and working together to solve problems, improve operations, and make decisions.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES        

Lives the Safety Stand, Adheres to Safety Responsibilities, & Consistently Drives to a Safer Workplace

Provide a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors and visitors

Ensures a clear and effective measurement system is followed and used to drive results; rewards and celebrates safe behavior and achievements; ensures accountability

Lead proactive safe behavior and participation of operators in site Safety programs:  Hazard ID, Behavioral Based Safety Observations, AWH (Accidents waiting to happen), Safety yellow tag process and risk identification

Leads necessary Safety training associated with OSHA, OC and other governmental agencies and/or regulations

 

Lead and Develop Talent

Monitors area activities as appropriate to ensure compliance with all Amarillo policies and employee handbook

Ensures alignment with functional leadership (e.g., finance, safety, human resources) on training, performance management and talent development

Lead and coordinate area and individual training geared at committee or team functional alignment. Ensure operator certification and credentials for job tasks in the area. Perform gap analysis and training needs analysis as needed

Develop area skills matrix, baseline credentials, and current operator capability in area

Act as a coach for area operators and team-based functions within the Operation

Perform administrative functions for area personnel including: Kronos timekeeping, overtime equalization, vacation scheduling, VIP metric tracking, maintains employee records and facilitates employee questions, concerns and/or dispute resolution

 

Accountable for Administrative Processes

Verify team member time and attendance as well as scheduling

Drive overtime needs to a minimum, and schedule employees for overtime only as business needs dictate

Appropriately track and document employee occurrences and subsequent coaching conversations as needed. These could be for safety, attendance, performance, etc.

Document and communicate shift happenings through daily shift reports

Other administrative tasks related to the efficient management of the shift

 

Drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Actions & Implementation

Ownership of TPM activities in increasing total production standards

Responsible for leading the development and execution of TPM implementation plans to meet and exceed the business objectives

Hold team members accountable for follow-through on TPM activities or improvements.

Support the TPM leader with various TPM related activities

 

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Work to drive a Zero Injury, Zero Defect, Zero Loss Culture

Autonomous Maintenance (AM):

Own the equipment on the line in terms of CIL (cleaning, inspection, and lubrication) standards

Ability to learn troubleshooting methodology such as cause mapping or five why analysis

Troubleshooting ability to solve tags created regarding abnormalities

Focused Improvement (FI):

Combines the collective talents of a company to create an engine for continuous improvement

Provide the methodology and disciplined approaches to be able to identify and eliminate losses through loss tree deployment

Training & Development (T&D):

Operators develop skills to routinely maintain equipment and identify emerging problems.

Maintenance personnel learn techniques for proactive and preventative maintenance.

Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE):

Eliminates potential health and safety risks, resulting in a safer workplace.

Specifically targets the goal of an accident-free workplace

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related environment

Bachelor’s Degree required; degrees with in engineering or other related fields are preferred

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Manufacturing Experience is preferred

1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred

Six Sigma Green Belt/Yellow Belt
