The Apeldoorn plant is part of Owens Corning’s Non Woven, a Composites Solutions Business that produces wet-laid glass non-wovens for flooring, ceiling, walls and Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) industries. The facility has 150 total employees, running 2 machines over 5 shifts. Consistent with Owens Corning’s manufacturing excellence focus, Apeldoorn started the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) journey to drive the plant to a level of World Class Manufacturing. It is awarded with the Excellence Award in the ongoing strive to achieve zero injury, zero defect and zero losses.

 

We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager – TPM, who will enable the deployment of our TPM Strategy. The role exists because we are driven by the pursuit of zero to be achieved by establishing TPM as the way we run our operations. Collaborating closely with the Global TPM Team and Plant Team Members; the manager will be responsible for developing and deployment of the best strategy and coaching the team to drive loss elimination across the TPM pillars. This position is to impact the organization’s manufacturing program, communicating across departments and leading by example to develop standards, skills and effiency to achieve the organizational objectives through sustainable improvements. The CI Manager will be part of the local Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Site Leader.

  1. Inspires and enables the plant leadership team to successfully drive to zero losses through the deployment of a Total Productive Maintenance operating system
  • Build support and shared accountability for successful deployment of TPM
  • Demonstrate strategic leadership through driving TPM masterplan creation for implementation of TPM program across the site linked to overall plant objectives of loss elimination.
  • Develop the understanding and the execution of TPM across all levels of the organization
  • Recognize skills required and support T&D to agree on training plans for the pillar leads
  • Serve as mentor/coach to develop excellence in use of TPM methodologies and change leadership
  • Develops and execute training and roll-out plan together with T&D for all pillar leaders
  • Lead, coach, and solicit input from team members to drive successful execution of global, regional and plant goals collaboratively through all pillars
  • Implement process to assure effective best practice sharing and accelerate mutual progress
  • Support and drive root cause analysis, and measure the effectiveness of corrective action(s)
  • Lead the rapid improvements in Safety, Quality and Performance by using relevant tools and techniques
  • Develop strategies and tactics to improve business results through development and execution of TPM efforts across the Operations network

 

  1. Drive Manufacturing Excellence as demonstrated by Zero Loss
  • Responsible to support the results delivering inside SQPDC model using TPM methodology and management approach based on Loss Tree / Cost Tree to drive Losses / Cost Reduction projects / Improvement Projects
  • Responsible to coach the leadership team in creating, managing and reporting KPIs inside Balanced Scorecard method
  • Responsible to support all pillar objectives by reviewing against organizational policy and targets.
  • Ensure that objecctives are supported by the TPM program, and ensuring expected returns of the program are measured and reviewed regularly in foundation mechanisms like daily management and through steering committee meetings
  • Communicates effectively to the team, demonstrating active listening and empathy. Providing feedback, guidance and recognition and effectively

 

Business requirements

  • Bachelor’s and / or Master’s degree, Engeering discipline preferred
  • Proven technical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience in leading Continuous Improvement projects with a background in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing
  • Proven ability to developing CI strategy, and transforming into practice
  • Capability to communicate effectively in both Dutch and English
