SUMMARY

 This position is responsible for maintaining an organized and efficient maintenance storeroom, supporting maintenance operations by ensuring parts availability, accurate inventory management, and compliance with company procedures.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
  • Ensure all procedures comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Maintain the spare parts storeroom in an organized and efficient manner, allowing internal customers to quickly locate parts for work orders and breakdown situations.
  • Prepare and kit maintenance work orders; if kits are incomplete, check SAP for order status and notify the Plant Buyer of any required items.
  • Maintain kitting status boards and keep them current.
  • Attend planning and downtime meetings as needed to provide parts availability updates.
  • Support the Maintenance Team in identifying necessary and cost-effective spare parts.
  • Enter data into the Material Request Tool to create materials in SAP for future purchasing.
  • Perform frequent counts of high-use and critical spare parts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Complete daily goods issue transactions in SAP.
  • Receive all incoming parts into SAP, properly tag and store items, and file paperwork daily.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling 12-month cycle count schedule, ensuring all parts are counted by November each year.
  • Conduct semi-annual inventory reviews with the Maintenance Team to identify obsolete or unnecessary stock.
  • Identify slow-moving or excess inventory and coordinate returns or inventory reductions as appropriate.
  • Communicate any changes to parts room layout with maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain accurate spare parts locations and kitting areas to support job readiness.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of maintenance materials, parts, and equipment to effectively support maintenance staff.
  • Assist the Plant Buyer with returns and rebuild shipments, including packaging, documentation, and coordination with Shipping for LTL shipments.
  • Support special projects as requested by the Maintenance Leader.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.
  • Maintain regular on-site attendance.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient computer skills, including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Forklift certification preferred/required.
  • Strong initiative to maintain an organized work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Computer and Software Competencies

  • Ability to operate a computer or similar systems.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Experience with logistics or inventory management systems.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency in all job responsibilities.
  • Successful completion of a proficiency exam is required.

Previous Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in maintenance, sourcing, or inventory-related roles.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of productivity and quality.
  • Ability to interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Essential Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Ability to work at elevated heights.
  • Perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand for 8–12 hours.
  • Ability to climb stairs, scaffolding, and ladders throughout the shift.
  • Lift, push, and pull at least 40 lbs frequently (50+ times per day).
  • Ability to bend, squat, twist, and move freely.
  • Exposure to temperature extremes and potentially high noise levels.
  • Ability to handle tools, materials, and equipment as required.
