Regional Occup Health Nurse - Corporate

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Regional Occupational Health Nurse will be responsible for the provision and management of occupational health and wellness services for the region. Duties include coordinating health initiatives on behalf of employees and contractors, individually, and in partnership with the local medical community when applicable. The incumbent will interact and collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to prevent and manage injuries and illnesses and to promote health, wellness, productivity, and safety within the facilities/plants. This will be accomplished by planning, implementing, and managing health-related programs, engaging in first aid treatment, and case managing both work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.
This role will also support health analytics for the Enterprise Health and Medical team, including but not limited to, organizing and analyzing company health data, identifying trends, and reporting data in team meetings. This role will also be instrumental in supporting the development of future data collection systems and training other healthcare professionals in Owens Corning on how to utilize data. The ideal candidate will have a public health background or work experience delivering population health management in the workplace.
Reports to: Corporate Medical Director
Location: Central US Region (Texas, Arkansas, or Missouri preferred - close to an Owens Corning plant location preferred)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Occupational Health Management – 70% of role
- Facilitates the completion of a variety of worker clinical evaluations including, but not limited to, annual health monitoring and medical surveillance examinations and compliance, worker fitness-for-duty examinations, pre-assignment/pre-placement evaluations, preventive service examinations, etc. at both the primary and regional facilities. Reports these examination/evaluation activities to local management.
- Effectively communicate with local EHS Leaders on medical surveillance compliance and assist in gap closure.
- Oversees, personally or by contract, the provision of specialty services such as drug and alcohol testing, medical screening including hearing, vision, blood draws, vital signs and pulmonary function testing, travel medicine consultations and immunizations, etc. when required at both primary and regional facilities.
- Cooperates with Enterprise Health and Medical (EH&M) in developing health education and wellness programming relevant to the primary and regional facilities populations and administers those programs and activities at each facility in partnership with HR locally and at the corporate level. Facilitates the creation of a wellness committee at each facility where appropriate.
- Acts as liaison and ambassador for the company to the community at large when health concerns are at issue and cooperates with the local community, when appropriate, to assist in the delivery of needed public health programs that are advantageous to both the community and the company.
- Provides all clinical activities following the Standard Nursing Guidelines and under the direction of the Corporate Medical Director (CMD) in accordance with applicable laws governing state licensure and national certification. Standing orders are applicable to state licensure with medical supervision as required.
- Participates in appropriate, periodic conference calls with HR, Medical Case Management Team, Enterprise Health and Medical and operations to discuss absences due to personal illnesses and work-related injuries and illnesses. Participates in periodic conference calls organized by EH&M to discuss relevant nursing and health and wellness issues.
- Participates in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines to be used during the provision of clinical services. Cooperates with EH&M to develop and implement policies to create uniformity, consistency, and quality assurance in the delivery of nursing care.
Enterprise Health Data, Analytics, and Reporting – 30%
- Organize, analyze, and validate company health data, identifying trends, and reporting data in team meetings.
- Supporting development future data collection systems and training other healthcare , EHS, and HR professionals.
- Partner with People Analytics team to derive insights and trends from data within employment population.
- Conduct research to improve data effectiveness for Population Health Management
DESIRED EXPERIENCES
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Registered Nursing degree, preference on Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Experience: 3 years previous experience in occupational health in a healthcare setting required. Previous public health experience preferred.
- Credentials: Certification in occupational and environmental health nursing and case management is highly desirable. Must be ACLS certified. Certification in DOT drug and alcohol collection, spirometry and hearing conservation is preferred.
- Remains current and informed on regulatory issues affecting the delivery of occupational and other health services, hazard-specific regulations regarding worker evaluation and treatment of exposures likely to be encountered in a heavy manufacturing environment and OSHA recordable safety issues as they pertain to the clinical treatment of injury cases.
- Obtains and maintains necessary continuing education credit hours and training as required by state and certifying agencies.
- If required, able to obtain compact state licensure.
- Participates in all off-site company health conferences/meetings as sponsored and directed by Medical for the advancement and training of internal clinical personnel.
- Data Analytics: Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Suite of products, experience extracting data from enterprise and vendor data systems, analyzing data and pulling together analysis. Ability to present data both visually and verbally to both healthcare and non healthcare professionals.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

- Ability to accumulate, organize and manipulate quantitative data to identify and explain trends, problems and their causes. The ability to compare, contrast and combine information to determine underlying issues
- Excellent communication skills (written/verbal), combined with the ability to work with colleagues across various geographies, including logically structuring and delivering presentations.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage time across multiple project areas and deliverable, and ability to execute tasks independently.
- Organized, deliberate, and reliable in structuring work, and effective problem solver. Experience in working on cross-functional and multi-department enterprise-wide projects.
- Demonstrated ability in project management, time management, juggling priorities, being accountable to various stakeholders
- Knowledge of the principles behind occupational health, wellness, and safety.
- High level of personal integrity to be able to maintain the company’s compliance and address identified deficiencies
- Ability to travel within the US up to 50%.
