About the Position

As Regulatory Affairs Lead for Insulation Europe, you will represent our FOAMGLAS® products, solutions and sustainability aspects in key European standardization and regulatory platforms & committees. Your work will influence industry standards, shape legislative frameworks, and ensure our products meet and exceed compliance requirements. This strategic role combines technical expertise, advocacy, analytical acumen, and collaboration to strengthen our competitive position and drive growth.
You will partner with internal networks and external stakeholders to develop company positions, monitor regulatory developments, and integrate these into actionable business strategies. This role requires a proactive leader who thrives in a matrix environment and can lead through influence.
What does success look like?
• Represent FOAMGLAS® in the European Standards and Regulatory Affairs environment, ensuring a strong and unified voice.
• Drive development of standardization measures aligned with FOAMGLAS® and overall Insulation strategy, prioritized applications and customer segments to build the roadmap in product features and fire regulation.
• Influence regulations related to construction products, CE-marking, and fire safety through active participation in the European Committee for Standardization (CEN ) and other bodies.
• Coordinate internal expert participation and create position papers for alignment and communication.
• Provide insights and early signals on legislative changes to enable timely strategic responses and maintain competitive advantage.
• Accountable for creating and organizing relevant training related to Standards & Regulation for our European Insulation Businesses.
• Support local Regulatory activities across our broader Insulation Businesses in Europe through:
- Reviewing and improving marketing claims, in partnership with MARCOM, to enhance our products and performance.
- Collaborate with local teams and partners to lobby for a favorable legislative environment in key markets.
- Coordinate voting positions and represent our interests in European standardization groups, including CEN mirror groups.
- Actively participate in local standardization committees to help shape industry standards and best practices.
Skills and capabilities necessary to succeed
• Ability to influence and lead across a highly matrixed organization without formal authority.
• Deep understanding of European standardization routes (CEN, ISO) and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong networking and presentation skills to represent Owens Corning externally.
• Analytical and systematic approach to managing complex regulatory information.
• Excellent communication skills in English and preferably Dutch. Additional languages such as German, French are a plus.
• Knowledge of building physics, sustainability, and fire safety engineering is an advantage.
Business Requirements
• 5+ years of experience in building industry regulatory affairs; insulation experience preferred.
• University degree in a relevant discipline, preferably (construction) engineering.
• Understanding of European Commission and Parliament processes.
• Willingness to travel 20–30%.
Preferred Experience:
• Experience in standardization and regulatory affairs within insulation industry.
• Established network within European regulatory bodies.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and building strategic alliances.
