PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Corporate Quality Manager- Special projects is responsible for executing a variety of quality focused projects focused on improving data collection capabilities, measurement systems, product enhancements, and overall visibility of leading/lagging quality indicators. This position will be the subject matter expert for all quality transactions and processes within our ERP system.
Reports to: Quality Leader, Doors Engineering Center of Excellence (COE)
Span of Control: Doors enterprise-wide special projects (quality focused).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality
- Increase quality competencies by providing leadership and training to the manufacturing teams on quality tools and systems.
- Establish and maintain robust Supplier Quality practices within the plants including improved incoming receiving inspection and supplier quality improvement programs.
- Subject matter expert for Doors QMS deployment across all value streams.
Strategy
- Be a key member of all new product deployment initiatives and ensure DFM and DFSS tools are used during the development process.
- Subject matter expert for all ERP quality related transactions at the plants. Develop training material as needed for quality related tasks within the ERP system.
Execution
- Lead improvement projects in the plants utilizing Six Sigma tools to reduce scrap/rework through improved process control and mistake proofing methods.
- Works with the plant quality teams to complete failure analysis investigations and resolve customer complaints using Six Sigma problem solving methodologies.
- The job could require up to 75% travel to locations to lead improvement projects, perform audits, and help train employees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required or a minimum of 10 years in the quality field.
- 2 – 4 years of experienced project management and proficient in all PMP tools and techniques. PMP certification is desirable.
- Skilled in using and training quality tools (i.e. Ishikawa Diagrams, 5-Whys, 8D, Gage R&R, FMEA, SPC, etc.).
- 2 years of Six Sigma Experience (Green belt or Black belt certification is preferred).
- Proficiency in the use of Minitab (or other statistical software) is required.
- Skilled in the use of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) methodologies.
- ERP system implementation experience is required. SAP experience is desirable.
- Basic product & process knowledge in door, particle board, or MDF manufacturing is especially desirable.
- Experience with ISO9000 quality system requirements is desired.
