Production Supervisor
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing operations and leading personnel and ensuring a strong understanding of customer needs to drive growth and success. This role oversees day shift activities to deliver exceptional performance in safety, employee engagement, cost control, productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer service. By fostering operational excellence, the Production Supervisor plays a critical role in achieving plant objectives and delivering superior results.
Reports to: Plant Leader
Span of Control: between 45 to 50 Hourly Production Associates
Schedule: Day shift with some 2nd shift overlap (approx. 8am – 6pm)
JOB RESPONSABILITIES
Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities
- Coordinate and ensure completion of all required safety training.
- Lead the execution of monthly team safety initiatives.
- Educate team members on safe work practices and operational standards.
- Communicate Owens Corning’s safety commitment consistently across the Operations Department.
- Report, investigate, and resolve all safety incidents by identifying root causes and implementing permanent corrective actions.
Achieve Customer Satisfaction and Quality commitments
- Understand and communicate customer expectations throughout the Operations Department to ensure all products meet required standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate production schedules to meet or exceed delivery commitments.
- Enforce operational procedures to maintain product specifications and quality metrics.
- Conduct root cause analysis on quality issues with operator involvement and implement effective resolutions.
- Train and coach operators on problem-solving techniques to drive continuous improvement.
Execute Plant’s Continuous Improvement Plan.
- Participate in Lean Toolkit training and utilize tools on regular basis.
- Update and leverage SQDC (Safety / Quality / Delivery / Cost) boards and process on daily basis to keep team members well-educated and well-informed.
- Participate in and lead Kaizen and 5S events in various work areas throughout plant.
- Communicate expectations around continuous improvement with all team members.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and execute actions to deliver improved processes and results.
Lead and develop talent
- Monitor and enforce compliance with all plant and corporate policies and procedures.
- Provide clear, candid feedback on performance and expectations regularly.
- Build and lead effective teams to improve plant performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain documentation, track performance, and administer coaching and corrective actions as needed.
- Review and adjust individual training plans based on development needs.
Achieve Plant cost targets
- Utilize standard work practices to minimize variation and eliminate waste.
- Develop and implement productivity projects and programs to optimize processes.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives by eliminating inefficiencies.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet cost objectives.
- Engage team members in identifying and executing productivity improvements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years work experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related environment required. Preferred experience in making high-impact decisions in a fast-paced environment, while leading, assessing, and developing talent to achieve results.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required. Focus in Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
- Knowledge & Skills: Strong communicator, visionary leader, change agent with Lean/TPM experience, Microsoft Office products.
