All production labourers are responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations throughout the door manufacturing process. Basic duties include loading and unloading doors or raw materials, assembling, crafting, and correct movement of doors throughout the process. The Layup position is responsible for prepping raw materials, feeding, assembling doors and operating cold presses. As part of the Layup Team – each member is expected to rotate between all Layup functions for cross-coverage reasons.

The Layup department is the fastest working area of the manufacturing plant and requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment, whilst ensuring quality made doors. All team members perform constant repetitive motions and are required to stand for the entire working shift.

Feeding:

  • Read and follow daily production schedule to ensure correct builds.
  • Feed required door components through glue spreader, constantly watching for Builders to receive materials.
  • Must feed components in a specific order and according to build schedule.

Building (Puller/Tailer):

  • Read and follow daily production schedule to ensure correct builds.
  • Move skins down the automatic conveyor line, using the foot pedal for the scissor lift to control movement.
  • Receive door components fed through the glue spreader and places in a specific pattern on the laid skin. Then slides a second skin to complete one door built. 
  • Must be conscious of material placement and pace of work. 

Other Duties:

  • Attend Tier 1 Meeting and complete daily stretches.
  • Reading schedules to determine components necessary to build the order.
  • Housekeeping and general cleanup of all layup areas.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures and report safety concerns/incidents immediately.
  • Wear safety (personal protective) equipment, at all times.
