Overview: We are seeking a General Production Worker to join our Trim Team at our high-volume Interior Door Manufacturing Plant located in Chilliwack (Yarrow) B.C. Canada. Producing between 6,000-10,000 doors daily, this role is pivotal in reaching our daily trim targets. 

 

The Trim Team is responsible for sizing doors to finished dimensions by feeding doors through trim saws measuring, flipping, stacking product, and ensuring doors meet Owens Corning quality standards.

 

As part of the Trim Team – each member is expected to rotate between all Trim functions for cross-coverage reasons. The Trim department requires a multitude of tasks including heavy weight for lifting, pulling and pushing, strong attention to detail for quality purposes, and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, whilst ensuring quality made doors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Feeder:

  • Read and follow production tickets to ensure correct trim size and bevel. 
  • Assist the Operator to operate the trim machine and adjust the feed table, as necessary.
  • Prepares doors on scissor lift and prepares the doors for the trimming process.
  • Adjust scissor lift to correct feeding heights and feeds doors through the trim saw, one at a time.
  • Must feed doors according to the build ticket. 
  • Continuously inspect quality of doors and ensure any defects are reported to the Trim Saw Operator/Team Lead/Supervisor. 

Catcher/Flipper:

  • Read and follow production tickets to ensure correct builds.
  • Scan each ticket as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Perform first piece check as per the SOP including, measuring length, width, and checking bevels, ease and printing. 
  • Responsible for inspecting doors for defects and preparing the doors for Paint and Strapping.
  • Inspect quality of doors and ensure any defects are reported to the Trim Saw Operator/Team Lead/Supervisor.
  • Stack doors onto required pallet in quantities indicated on the production ticket.
  • Ensure the production tickets match the doors and printing on ends of doors.
  • Will use small hand tools including a hand sander to make small adjustments and fixes to doors as necessary

Other Duties:

  • Attend Tier 1 Meeting and complete daily stretches.
  • Housekeeping and general cleanup of all Trim areas.
  • Follow all standard safety practices and SOP’s and report any safety concerns. Report safety incidents or injuries immediately to the First Aid Attendant/Team Lead/Supervisor.
  • Ensure PPE is always worn

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ Years of Age
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Maintains Good Attendance
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, repetitive motion environment.
  • Safety Minded: strong safety culture values and ensures safety protocols are adhered to at all times. 
  • Good communications skills and a positive attitude. 
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to read a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch. Ability to read calipers. 
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • 6 months + of general laboring experience. 
  • Flexible and adaptable to change. 

 

Compensation:

  • Wage Rate: $22.00/hour
  • Nightshift employees receive an additional $1.00/hour Nightshift Premium
  • Benefits Package / RRSP / Employee Stock Purchase Pan, upon successful completion of the standard probationary period.
