Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to pull raw material to provide raw materials to all production lines, transfer material to the coater building or sill plant and to maintain organization of materials throughout the entire lower plant.  Other responsibilities include preparing finished product for shipment (strapping, wrapping and labeling), preventative maintenance on the forklift and housekeeping.

Job Duties:     

 

  • Stock production lines with the correct parts throughout the day, checking in periodically to make this happen.
  • Utilize the RF scan gun and QAD to perform consistent, error-free scanning.
  • Stay in constant contact with cell leads to make sure all inventory matters are taken care of immediately.
  • Properly wrap all pallets of material that require the outer layer of cardboard for extra protection. 
  • Keep all doorways, aisles, electrical panel boxes and fire extinguishers clear at all times.
  • Ensure all trash is dumped at least daily or more often as necessary.
  • Keep work areas clear of all unused racks, banding, cardboard and pallets. 
  • Notify supervisor of any damage to forklift or buildings immediately.
  • Display professional attitude at all times when dealing with coworkers.
  • Provide clear and consistent communication (written and spoken) to support groups.
  • Manage time efficiently.
  • Be able to work independently and show urgency in carrying out work duties.
  • Work in the production areas when free from daily required job duties to gain knowledge of product.
  • Demonstrate consistent working knowledge of the production lines and all the parts required for each line.
  • Must be able to co-manage the organization of Lower Plant Warehouse and excel at the organization of the production area and coater building.
  • Demonstrate the ability to self- manage daily activities and show the consistency of keeping the lines supplied with parts at all times with zero down time waiting. 
  • Make management aware of any stock-outs or quality/safety issues.
  • Provide support in the warehouse and assist with the putting away of inventory received.
  • Be able to read and understand a production sheet and a spec sheet. 
  • Outstanding housekeeping and organizational skills.  Keeping the production area and warehouse in order each day.
  • Maintain excellent attendance.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must have a complete knowledge of entire product line of raw materials in Site 1000 (Lower Plant).  3 to 6 months of forklift driving experience is desired and must pass written forklift exam as well as driving test.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:  Educational requirements due to accountability of production require completion of 12th grade.  Must have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.  Approximately 6 to 12 months of work experience is required to become skilled in all phases of the job.  Must be capable of reading a tape measure and pass written exam and driving test for forklift.

 

INITIATIVE & INGENUITY:  Work priorities are determined by supervisor’s instructions and incoming materials.  One must develop the knowledge to work independently while keeping in mind the effects their position has on everyday operations.  Individual must be self-motivated working with limited supervision while following verbal and written instructions.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  This position is under specific direction of the shipping supervisor and Plant Manager.  Coordinate work with other material handlers as well as other lead people and supervisors.  Report any material handler deficiencies.  Advise leads/supervisor of unusual circumstances as needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR MATERIAL/PRODUCT: Carelessness in transporting materials and finished product could result in damage or loss, which could be expensive. Errors involving inventory, down time at assembly lines, or missed shipments will become apparent in daily processing.

 

CONTACT WITH OTHER:  Regular contact with other employees, lead people and     staff members where improper handling may affect results.  Clear, concise communications skills are important.

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT:  Flow of work and character of duties involve performing frequent hand, wrist, and arm motions and or  capable of sitting on forklift for the entire shift. Normal and corrected hearing and vision are necessary with manual coordination some walking, bending, twisting and stooping and climbing up over freight and lifting of approximately 35 lbs.  Any lifting of more than 35 pounds must be done with help from another person.  Must have good hand eye coordination and be mechanically adaptable to using forklift controls.

 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT:  Damage to the forklift or building could result in a loss for the company. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Exposed to normal factory environment (wood dust and aluminum) with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent. Must be able to withstand heat up to 95 degrees.  Carelessness could result in falls, back strain, cuts, crushed hand or foot.  Caution is required while operating forklift.

 

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations as specified in the Endura’s Safety Manual.   This responsibility necessitates wearing of proper personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses & ear plugs).  Moving heavy and awkward cargo in various work areas will require diligence and care.  The storing of materials in high racking requires care as well as it could result in serious injury to others if not handled properly.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This job includes other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.  Regular attendance is an essential job function.
