Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to operate and maintain the CNC machine by completing tasks from the Sample and Engineering Departments. Also continuing to work with the Sample team to assemble displays and fulfill customer orders.

Job Duties:

  • Operate CNC machine from either product specs, drawings, or configurations within the CNC programs. Work with engineers to enhance the proficiency of the programs.
  • Ability to know and change tooling in the CNC.
  • Perform basic maintenance on CNC like greasing parts, cleaning tooling, housekeeping of area. Keeping dust collection area clean and emptying of collection bags.
  • Be able to work with Engineering and run parts for them if necessary.
  • Meet production requirements established for all samples and displays.
  • Knowledge of sample displays and all associated parts. These will be the parts not only ran on the CNC but in the sample area.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines for OC Doors. Wear appropriate PPE while operating CNC.
  • Responsible for keeping inventory of sample display parts and letting Supervisor know when to reorder.
  • Flexibility to adjust to different jobs from CNC to sample area. Movement will depend on priorities of Samples, Engineering, or Testing areas.
  • Must have the ability to work individually or in a team setting. This will be done, at times, with little supervision.
  • Must be detailed oriented and attentive to use of materials. Some of these materials are very costly and waste has to be minimized.
  • Familiarity of products for all departments like wood, sills, components, locks, and astragals.
  • Be active in problem solving and communicating issues with Supervisor and Engineers.
  • Knowledge of saws, hand tools, routers. All equipment in the shop area.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all sample and display assembly as new products are released. This will require being involved with new sales displays as they are being designed.
  • Excellent attendance and overtime when needed is required for this position.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:   Advanced position.  Requires intimate knowledge, will train others to achieve desired level of success.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:   Minimum of 1 year experience running CNC or machine operator experience. Forklift certified thru company.

 

INITIATIVE & INGENUITY: Work priorities are determined by Supervisor instructions.  This employee is responsible for quality checking the raw materials, finished product and final display assembly frequently.  Be capable of working with other crew members while following verbal and written instructions.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Under specific direction of Sample Shop Supervisors and Product Development Manager where goals and objective are established.  Coordinate work with other crew members. Report issues directly to Supervisor.

 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR ERRORS:  Errors may be serious involving Sales reps, OC customers and would damage the Company reputation.  Report any issues to your supervisor.

 

CONTACT WITH OTHERS:  Regular contact with crew members, other employees, lead people and staff members is very frequent in this area and require clear, concise communications skills.

 

PHYSICAL EFFORTFlow of work and character of duties involve some repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms motion while standing a minimum of 10hrs per day. (40 hrs per week) with mandatory overtime as needed.  Normal or corrected hearing and vision are necessary with manual coordination.  Some walking with frequent bending, twisting, stooping and lifting of approximately 50 lbs.  Must have good hand eye coordination and be mechanically adaptable to using some hand tools.  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT: This position will be required to be capable of limited troubleshooting all equipment in the shop and reporting problems to Supervisor.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Exposed to normal factory environment (wood dust and aluminum) with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent. Must be able to withstand heat up to 95 degrees.

 

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations as stated in OC Safety guidelines. This responsibility necessitates wearing of proper personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses & ear plugs) by each crew member in the shop.  Be active with the safety suggestions and other safety initiatives.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This job includes other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.  Regular attendance is essential to any position with OC Doors.
