SUMMARY
The role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts, material, and equipment access. The Maintenance Planner acts as a liaison between the production and maintenance departments. As a member of the plant maintenance organization, the maintenance planner is responsible for achieving world-class performance in overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), total unit cost ($/SQ), maintenance cost ($/RAV), spares inventory ($/RAV), and schedule attainment. This job requires excellent organizational and strong interpersonal skills for a self-directed worker who works well with teams.
The hourly rate for this position is $ 42.44. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plant and Environmental Safety
• Lives the Owens Corning Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment
• Take personal ownership to work safely and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety
• Notify supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss or on- the -job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem
• Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, Training, etc.
• Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.
• Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations
• Performs cleanup duties at workstations and/or equipment/machinery
• Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel, maintaining strong communication with the appropriate line section operators to ensure immediate action is taken for product out of spec.
• Inspect vehicles before use and throughout shift, keeping all equipment clean and operational
TPM
• Participates in plant TPM initiatives - completing activities associated with TPM tasks (adheres to CILT standard, 5S)
• Continues to use TPM methodology to gain a better understanding of the equipment
• Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities and develops expertise in those areas
• Utilizes Focus Improvement tools to problem solve
• Works to achieve zero injuries, zero defects and zero losses
• During PM days, uses time effectively to bring equipment to optimal condition for zero losses
• Maintain DM and Step Boards
Planner
1. Plan and Schedule maintenance work in advance and gain operations approval to optimize OEE.
• Work orders are planned, and scheduling is completed two weeks in advance of execution. Appropriate materials are available prior to execution and man hours are planned and scheduled.
• Coordinate job scheduling and gain approval for each weekly maintenance schedule from the Operations and Maintenance Leaders to reach agreement regarding prioritization and authorization of work.
• Initially screen work requests for completeness, accuracy, and necessity. Perform regular analysis of backlog work relative to available resources.
• Develop detailed job plans identifying safety and environmental issues, labor hours, craft skills, crew size, operations, task sequence, materials, special tools, and equipment access requirements.
• Plan and schedule all outsourced PM work and direct contractors as necessary.
• Complete analysis of job requirements to determine the best way to accomplish the work. Analysis should include conferring with requestors, clarifying request and refining descriptions, visualizing job execution and outlining requirements.
• Maintain documentation of historical equipment cost information and essential maintenance records and files.
2. Manage the plant maintenance work order system utilizing SAP/PM
• Maintain data accuracy and completeness in SAP/PM (i.e. equipment records)
• Utilize the maintenance team and / or operators to develop and write PMs in the SAP / PM system
• Review the system daily and examine / screen each new work request
• Convert work requests into work orders
• Utilize Master Trainer skills to develop maintenance technicians on the SAP work order / work request system.
3. Lead the Preventative Maintenance Process
• Complete all planning and scheduling for the PM Day
• Collect data on downtime and schedule compliance and review with the Operations Team to optimize OEE
• Update PMs as process or equipment changes occur
• Review completed PMs to look for changes that are needed, quality of work completed, and any additional work requests discovered during PM work
• Manage the repair process
• Keep Maintenance Leader properly informed on all abnormal and critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside of the Planners knowledge or authority.
• Utilize data and data collection systems, and 6-sigma methods for problem-solving and decision-making to eliminate manufacturing losses and unnecessary costs.
• Performs other task or special assignments as requested by the Maintenance Leader.
4. Safety
• Ensure compliance with all VPP, OSHA, environmental regulating agencies’, and corporate policies, procedures, regulations to maintain a safe operating environment for all plant personnel
• Lead the effective execution of manufacturing loss prevention work in maintenance and production departments by planning, estimating, scheduling of work orders and recording required historical data
• Train employees in confined space entry
• Ensure that contractors have received the Owens Corning Contractor Safety Training
5. Demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
• Preventative/predictive and reliability maintenance techniques
• Strong working knowledge of maintenance of industrial electrical and mechanical equipment
• Knowledgeable with equipment condition monitoring tools (vibration analysis, infrared, ultrasonic, oil analysis, etc.)
• Equipment research utilizing the following tools. Parts and equipment manuals, Internet searches, SAP, networking with other OC facilities, and using venders as a resource.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
• Manufacturing or process related experience preferred.
• Must have the ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Flair for working with large industrial parts/machines.
• Must be able to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal direct supervision with drive toward accomplishment, and to produce high quality work.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Must remain drug free
• Exposure to dust/dirt/fumes/fiberglass
• Ability to work in wet environments: including head and feet
• Industrial manufacturing environment with extreme temperature variation

• Prolonged sitting, standing, or walking for 8 – 12-hour shifts
