Warehouse & Distribution Supervisor

Scope of responsibilities:
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the shipment of product to customers and for the accuracy of shipments and documented services required. This person plans, orders and directs all activities within the shipping department. The Shipping Supervisor is also accountable for a variety of activities such as order verification and processing, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, storage, inventory management and record keeping. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
Additional duties and responsibilities:
- Provides daily direction and leadership to the Shipping Department team members.
- Develops a team work environment.
- Builds departmental standards for performance.
- Ensures that all employees in the Shipping Department are properly trained.
- Ensures that materials shipped are verified against pertinent documentation.
- Establishes and maintains procedures for determining and meeting company and customer delivery commitments.
- Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continual improvement within the department and the company.
- Resolves emergent issues for expedited deliveries to the customer and/or job site.
- Maintains working relationships with transportation representatives, vendors amd suppliers to ensure cost control.
- Schedules and tracks all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Ensures that daily goals are met and sustained daily/weekly/monthly.
- The position will be responsible for a team of Forklift Drivers. The selected candidate will need to be certified as a Forklift Driver and will need to complete the Train the Trainer certification.
Work Environment
- This is not a highly automated work environment, we make custom and customized wooden doors through a combination of modern and traditional practices.
- Due to the nature of woodworking, employees will be exposed to sawdust and equipment noise.
- Safety sensitive work environment in which the wearing of PPE is mandatory.
Physical Demands
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are 50 pounds or heavier.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
