Senior Buyer

The Senior Buyer will manage the end-to-end procurement cycle to ensure continuity of supply, competitive total cost, and on-time delivery in support of production requirements. This role leads strategic sourcing, develops and maintains supplier relationships and performance expectations, and ensures purchasing activities comply with company policies and internal controls. The Senior Buyer partners closely with Production, Engineering, Sales, Accounting, and Logistics to resolve supply issues, support new product introductions, and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end procurement for assigned commodities/categories, including sourcing strategy, supplier selection, RFQs, negotiations, award recommendations, and ongoing supplier management.
- Partner with Production/Planning to review forecasts and build plans; help set and maintain purchasing parameters (reorder points, safety stock, lead times).
- Expedites critical orders and proactively manages shortages, backorders, and supplier constraints; communicates impacts and recovery plans to stakeholders.
- Monitors supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, lead time, responsiveness) and drives corrective actions, escalations, and continuous improvement with suppliers.
- Maintains purchasing system data integrity (vendor records, item master/purchasing parameters, lead times, pricing, and preferred suppliers) and ensures accurate documentation retention
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, alternative sourcing, providing recommendations to the Purchasing Manager
The base salary range for this position is $30/hr to $32.50, with the potential for up to an additional 25% if the applicant hired has additional related qualifications.
