Production & Warehouse Supervisor

PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

The Production & Warehouse Supervisor leads safe, efficient, accurate, and compliant daily production and warehouse operations at the Cortland plant. The role directs personnel, staffing, work assignments, material flow, inventory, shipping, receiving, quality execution, and assigned Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities. The supervisor owns daily execution within delegated authority and escalates broader business, financial, inventory, formulation, capital, and site-direction decisions to plant leadership.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Safety, Environmental, and Quality Leadership 

•  Lead by example and ensure safety, PPE, chemical-handling, Job Hazard Analysis, Standard Operating Procedure, lockout/tagout, safe-work, and emergency requirements are followed. 

•  Lead safety observations, inspections, near-miss reporting, incident investigations, root-cause reviews, and corrective-action follow-up. 

•  Stop work when conditions are unsafe and escalate significant safety, environmental, equipment, quality, or process risks. 

•  Ensure approved formulas, work orders, procedures, quality-release requirements, labels, lot identification, and process controls are followed. 

•  Coordinate with Quality Control on out-of-specification or unusual results and lead containment, problem solving, and corrective action. 

Production and Warehouse Operations 

•  Plan daily work, assign personnel and resources, communicate priorities, monitor execution, and escalate unresolved constraints. 

•  Monitor production progress, work-order readiness, staffing, quality holds, inventory availability, equipment condition, output, efficiency, and cost. 

•  Coordinate batch building, chilling, quality release, drumming, labeling, staging, shipping, receiving, unloading, storage, returns, and material transfers. 

•  Maintain safe, organized, and operationally ready warehouses, docks, aisles, staging areas, and material-storage locations. 

•  Coordinate with third-party warehouses, suppliers, Customer Service, Quality, Production, and support functions to resolve operating and delivery concerns. 

Inventory, Systems, and Compliance 

•  Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical counts, lot verification, discrepancy investigation, and timely corrective follow-up. 

•  Ensure production, receiving, shipping, warehouse, and inventory records and system transactions are complete, accurate, timely, and retained. 

•  Perform only transactions, adjustments, write-offs, goods receipts, and approvals covered by assigned access, approval authority, and segregation-of-duties controls. 

•  Use Fishbowl, Microsoft Office, and other approved plant systems within assigned access and authority. 

•  Protect controlled documents and confidential employee, formulation, supplier, customer, business, and financial information; support audits and physical inventories. 

People Leadership and Development 

•  Set clear expectations, assign work, monitor performance, provide timely feedback, and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, attendance, conduct, and results. 

•  Lead onboarding, qualification, cross-training, certification, skills-matrix, and training activities to build effective role coverage. 

•  Coach employees through routine performance and development discussions and elevate formal employee-relations matters through leadership and Human Resources. 

•  Communicate daily plant priorities and performance measures, encourage employee problem solving, and recognize contributions. 

•  Promote respectful, inclusive teamwork across Production, Warehouse, Quality, R&D, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Finance, EHS, IT, and maintenance support. 

Maintenance, TPM, and Continuous Improvement 

•  Lead first-line equipment triage, document abnormalities, establish containment, and use established escalation paths for specialized technical issues. 

•  Coordinate maintenance and contractor work with production needs, safe access, operating impact, and return-to-service requirements. 

•  Support preventive maintenance, Cleaning-Inspection-Lubrication, equipment inspections, spare-parts readiness, and root-cause investigations. 

•  Lead assigned TPM activities, including tags, 5S, standard work, visual controls, action follow-up, Autonomous Maintenance, training, and loss elimination. 

•  Use structured problem solving, Lean, TPM methodologies, and other approved methods to reduce risk, defects, downtime, waste, delay, cost, and variation. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

Minimum Qualifications 

•  High school diploma or equivalent. 

•  At least 18 years of age, authorization to work in the United States, and proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English. 

•  Manufacturing, production, warehouse, or material-handling experience. 

•  Ability to lead people, communicate clearly, organize changing priorities, solve problems, and work independently. 

•  Working knowledge of safety, quality, production, controlled documentation, shipping, receiving, inventory control, lot tracking, and material movement. 

•  Ability to read and enforce formulas, work orders, SOPs, JHAs, work instructions, production records, inventory records, and operating metrics. 

•  Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn Fishbowl and other approved plant systems; ability to maintain required powered industrial vehicle certification. 

Preferred Qualifications 

•  Associate or bachelor degree in manufacturing, operations, business, logistics, engineering, or a related field. 

•  Three or more years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, logistics, or related environment, or equivalent demonstrated team leadership. 

•  Experience with safety leadership, inventory control, employee development, TPM, Lean, 5S, Autonomous Maintenance, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement.
