 PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Material Planning Specialist is accountable for inventory management, materials planning, purchase order entry and supplier payments. The incumbent will have thorough knowledge of materials replenishment planning. He/she is responsible for the execution of processes to ensure the sourcing function is meeting all plant operational requirements, sustaining Sarbanes Oxley compliance, driving productivity through sourcing initiatives, and leading corporate sourcing directives. The incumbent has the direct control of material inflow and understanding of supplier limitations. This position manages spend as well as the raw material and packaging purchase orders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

​​​​Living the safety stand and adhering to safety responsibilities

  • Ensures a safety focus in all sourcing processes and builds a culture where safety is the priority
  • Implements corporate sourcing programs in a safe manner and manages through a focus on safety

 

Knowing our Customers and Suppliers 

  • Interfaces with internal customers to ensure total satisfaction
  • Develops, implements, and manages sourcing procedures and processes to ensure the plant receives the right materials in the right quantity at the right time
  • Manages SOX compliant processes that meet internal customers’ needs and fitness for use
  • Strong bias for action and ability to react quickly within a dynamic business environment

 

Directing Operations

  • Understands and ensures that all plant sourcing processes for materials are complying with Sarbanes Oxley requirements
  • Obtains production schedule from the planning team; forecasts consumption and plans orders accordingly.  Proactively communicates issues or gaps in planned production schedule.
  • Ensures no production stock outs; communicates risk and action plans as needed
  • Continuously improves sourcing processes by leveraging best practices and eliminating waste
  • Manages working capital performance through daily processes and data analysis
  • Monitors and takes actions to minimize slow moving and obsolete raw material inventory losses
  • Ensures proper back-up coverage for own responsibilities through standard work document and work instructions
  • Provide back-up coverage for Supply Chain and Sourcing team, as needed.

 

Leading and Developing Talent

  • Identifies training and development needs of employees and works with others to meet those needs with respect to sourcing processes
  • Leads by example to increase enrollment and engagement in sourcing processes, initiatives and requirements

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in communicating both internally and externally and effectively managing relationships
  • MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience in purchasing, supply chain, or logistics preferred
  • Previous experience using SAP, MRP preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of and ability to work within Sarbanes Oxley Control
  • A high aptitude for learning and trying new methods to achieve results
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of constituencies
  • Organizational skills to coordinate and maintain competing priorities, complex activities and data
  • Is highly service oriented - has a desire to do what is necessary to meet the needs of the teams
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and inspire trust with multiple stakeholders to get results
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze and act on data
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities for the team or individuals within the group can operate more efficiently and effectively
