Warehouse & Distribribution Supervisor

The Warehouse Leader at the Gastonia, NC plant will be responsible for all warehouse, storage, and shipping processes. They provide technical leadership in the resolution of warehouse problems effectively communicating with all levels of the organization to include internal customers and suppliers. This position helps to implement organizational strategies, standards, and practices to achieve best-in-class performance.

Reports to: Plant Controller

Span of Control: 6 Primary Employees (3- Gastonia Warehouse and 3-External Kings Mountain Warehouse)

Leading in Safety

• Provides a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Ensures a clear and effective measurement system is followed and used to drive results; rewards and celebrates safe behavior and achievements; ensures accountability
• Participates in work area self-inspections, accident investigations, and corrective action implementation
• Leads and supports safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero recordable injuries

Lead Warehouse Operations

• Leads, supervises, and coordinates warehouse operations and workforce
• Conducts shift huddles to communicate daily action plans and safety information
• Communicates with carriers and customers to achieve necessary business outcomes
• Manages inventory controls in alignment with the SOX and OC controls environments
• Sets up and maintains material storage plans (FIFO, blocked stock, storage locations, quality issues, etc.)
• Develops expert knowledge and usage of electronic plant systems including, but not limited to: SAP, WMS, and UKG
• Key leader of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities
• Enforces 5S expectations to warehouse team
• Supervises and assists in taking physical finished goods inventory
• Monitors employee relations and resolve employee issues
• Demonstrates the ability to develop and meet key metrics
• Collaborates effectively with people at all levels of the organization
• Applies statistical methods/data analytics to estimate future manufacturing requirements
• Performs safety audits and Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) reviews
• Coordinates shuttle activities including stock analysis for inventory needs/capacity by location
• Communicates warehouse issues to management (internal and external)
• Embraces and enforces all safety practices established for the operation
• Back up for warehouse to cover absences
• Identifies and initiates cost savings/ productivity improvement opportunities
• Drives effective FIFO processes
• Audits outbound and inbound shipments for accuracy and compliance to policies
• Site contact for outside warehouse/spotting issues

Lead and Develop Talent

• Ensures a positive, creative, diverse, and collaborative work environment where employees contribute to the success of the business
• Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities to continuously improve the capabilities of our employees
• Establishes clear and measurable performance expectations and holds direct reports accountable for delivering goals
• Actively participates in the growth and development of self and others to achieve sustained success
• Conducts regular performance management process with employees
  • Implement and lead corrective actions when performance issues occur
  • Participates in recruiting, interviewing, and screening processes for warehouse candidates
  • Plan and conduct warehouse employee onboarding and training plans.

Lead Across the Site 

• Drives alignment between plant departments
• Shares best practices, challenge thinking, and provide candid and respectful feedback
• Be seen as a leader across the plant by driving engagement and supporting cross-functional projects and teams 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Logistics OR (5) years of Warehouse Leader experience
• Minimum of our (4) years of related work and supervisory experience
• Strong computer skills and Microsoft experience
• SAP (ERP) system experience is very desirable
• Strong internal and external customer service skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Utilizing data and problem-solving methodologies in order to eliminate manufacturing losses
• Creating and implementing strategic and operations plans
• Effective with verbal and written communication
• Lean (Six Sigma) and SPC (Statistical Process Control) knowledge a plus
