Asphalt Plant Leader

Purpose of the Role:
The Denver Asphalt Plant Leader holds full accountability for strategic and operational decisions impacting employee health and safety, workforce engagement and development, facility profitability, product quality, environmental compliance, customer satisfaction, and community relations.
This position provides direct leadership and oversight of production and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of excellence in safety, quality, and reliability. The role is instrumental in driving Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles and sustaining a high-performance environment that supports continuous improvement and operational success.
This position reports to: Denver Roofing Plant Leader
Span of Control: People Leader; Leads primary plant workforce at Denver Asphalt site (Approx 30 hourly employees)
Job Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership
- Champion Owens Corning’s Safety Stand by fostering a culture where safety is the top priority.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment through proactive leadership and accountability.
- Provide resources and guidance to achieve incident-free operations and regulatory compliance.
- Lead investigations of safety incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Report and investigate injuries, first aids, and near misses promptly and thoroughly.
- Model safe behaviors and hold team members accountable for adhering to safety standards.
- Recommend and implement improvements to continuously enhance workplace safety.
Goal Setting and Achievement
- Align plant objectives with Roofing and Asphalt business goals.
- Develop, communicate, and execute annual plant goals, ensuring measurable progress and achievement.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain a clean, customer-ready facility at all times.
- Develop and execute plans to identify and mitigate hazards, including housekeeping and process risks.
- Build an exceptional workplace environment by nurturing open communication, employee engagement, an inclusive workplace that embodies diversity.
- Ensure safe, reliable, and on-spec product delivery to customers on time.
- Investigate and resolve quality, reliability, and process issues in collaboration with employees.
- Manage SAP and SAP-PM transactions, including requisitions, notifications, material movements, and production orders.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) implementation across the site.
- Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement using Six Sigma, 5S, and Lean principles.
- Set clear performance expectations, monitor progress, and ensure milestones are achieved.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and generate meaningful reports to support operational decisions.
- Actively manage training and development programs to build workforce capability and engagement.
Communication and Collaboration
- Serve as the primary voice of the plant, ensuring effective communication with customers, internal stakeholders, and leadership teams.
- Build strong relationships with other Plant Leaders, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Commercial Teams to support business objectives.
- Demonstrate commitment to creating an exceptional workplace that values open communication, diversity, and employee engagement.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering, business or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of related experience and/or training – preferably in plant production, maintenance leadership, or asphalt manufacturing.
- Experience in a continuous manufacturing process environment preferred
- TPM leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading and developing teams with a strong focus on engagement and performance.
- Continuous Improvement Expertise: Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies; formal training preferred.
- Effective Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills, including SAP, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
- Industry Expertise: Knowledge of asphalt quality standards, equipment operation, and maintenance requirements.
- Self-Motivated: Highly driven, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to resolve operational challenges effectively.

The base salary range for this position is $110-$145k. We offer a substantial
