Overview

The Maintenance Manager ensures all mechanical and electrical plant equipment is maintained and is in good operating condition, to minimize downtime, optimize production, machine up-time, and facilitate smooth on-schedule maintenance outage and repair. This position creates and implements preventative maintenance programs, meeting maintenance cost budgets, and equipment up-time goals, pre-qualifying contractors and administrative contracts for equipment installation and maintenance. This leader creates and establishes standard work for the Maintenance department and establish routines with measurable results on a daily basis. This role schedules mechanics for repair and maintenance of equipment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and establishes priorities and schedule personnel for maintenance of all plant equipment, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic
  • Responds to breakdowns by determining problem and effect  immediate repair
  • Supports a corporate culture that focuses on facts, tangible results and behaviors
  • Establishes and monitors plant-wide preventive maintenance program
  • Maintains plant maintenance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintains a safe and secure work environment; develops personal growth opportunities
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job goals and expectations; plans, monitors, and appraises job results; coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees; initiates, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures
  • Maintains standard operating procedures and revision control on all plant equipment
  • Works with vendors to assure proper inventory and quality for all equipment
  • Achieves MRO financial objectives by establishing objectives; develops budgets; controls costs, maximizing use of available assets
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and spare parts for maintenance department
  • Ensures efficient utilization of plant personnel and equipment to meet equipment p-time OEE2 goals, and downtime goals for plant as established in stated AOP
  • Schedules maintenance repairs and prioritizes jobs in order to meet production requirements
  • Performs installation, start-up and commissioning of all plant equipment
  • Behaves continuously and consistently with desired Masonite Mprove values, and characteristics
  • Communicates and facilitates meetings effectively
  • Identifies and resolves issues skillfully and in a timely manner
  • Keeps abreast of emerging technology and industry practices
  • Maintains machine shop capable of making mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs to manufacturing and plant equipment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to create and drive change and effectively communicate throughout the organization
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming.
  • Ability to demonstrate set-up and operational experience of on-line and off-line auxiliary equipment
  • Strong aptitude to equipment technology troubleshooting and repair
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Hands-on ability and willingness to troubleshoot and perform mechanics work
  • Ability to implement a Maintenance Word-Order-System or CMMS
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, leadership qualities, computer literacy, and ability to supervise are essential for the candidate to perform successfully in this position
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & MS Project
  • Works with integrity and respect displaying a high degree of tact and diplomacy
  • Must be familiar with various measuring devices and analyzing information

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Electrical Engineering or Manufacturing Technology
  • 5-10 years’ experience managing in a manufacturing  maintenance department with hourly, supervisory and staff direct reports
  • Six Sigma Lean GB experience highly desired or ability to obtain GB certification within 12 months  
  • Kaizen and 5-S experience highly desired
  • Electrical background and PLC experience preferred 
  • Experience with maintenance management software including inventory, work-order system, and MRO
