PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

The Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of the safety, quality, cost, production, and employee engagement for the Ridgeview facility in Duncan, SC. This position is accountable for a multi-shift operation and plays an integral role in the establishment of a strong and sustainable safety culture. This role must demonstrate leadership across department boundaries to safely produce a quality product, at the lowest possible cost, while maintaining safety, environmental, and policy compliance. This role has responsibility for all areas of production at our manufacturing facility. Span of Control: One Production Supervisor direct report and approximately 30 primary employees of which 12 are indirect

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Champion an Unwavering Adherence to Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards

  • Ensure a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors through strict adherence to OC safety policies and procedures.  
  • Drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety and 5S through the effective engagement of the operations employees.
  • Be committed to the principles of environmental and product stewardship.
  • Allocates resource requirements and investments required to achieve zero injuries, including systems, focused programs and leadership.
  • Ensures a clear and effective measurement system is followed and used to drive results; rewards and celebrates safe behavior and achievements; ensures accountability.

Provide Operations Leadership to Ensure Product Quality

  • Partner with the local team to clearly understand customer needs and constantly meet/exceed customer expectations.
  • Provide leadership to all manufacturing process areas to ensure quality standards are upheld.
  • Develop and manage quality and product measurement systems to provide a consistent quality product.
  • Build an environment that develops and improves serving our customers.
  • Lead the AM Pillar of TPM, ensure all KPI and KAI goals across all production areas are met, and assist other pillars as needed.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts through standardized work to cut cost and improve productivity and quality.
  • Set clear and measurable performance expectations, in line with plant goals; proactively analyzes and manages all related operations performance metrics.
  • Effectively communicate goals and objectives.
  • Assign and coordinate the work in a manufacturing department through the self-directed teams.
  • Prepares budgets relative to capital expenditures, manpower, production, inventory, and space forecasting necessary to meet customer demands.
  • Operate with zero environmental non-conformities to applicable company, government, and regulatory policies.

Lead, Coach, and Develop the Team to Achieve Operational Excellence

  • Effectively assess, develop, and manage the talent on the Operations team.
  • Coach direct reports to drive performance and accountability in a manner that will garner credibility and respect.
  • Establish and sustain standards of performance across all shifts.
  • Maintain documentation, track, counsel, and execute coaching and corrective action when performance issues occur.

 

Work Collaboratively Across Departments and Functions

  • Partner with peers, site resources, and functional support to gain an in-depth understanding of all aspects of the plant’s processes and then work together to achieve the plant’s goals and objectives.
  • Drive alignment between plant departments.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field
  • 5-7 years manufacturing leadership experience or equivalent applicable experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge and understanding of CNC machining
  • Demonstrated ability as an Operations Leader
  • Experience with TPM deployment and sustainment
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement
  • A history of hiring, growing, and promoting talent within the organization
