The EHS Co-op Student will support the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team in implementing and maintaining safety and environmental programs. This role is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field or recent graduate. The student will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and compliance efforts. The EHS Co-op Student reports to the EHS Leader. No off-site travel is required for this position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support EHS Programs: Assist in the implementation and monitoring of safety and environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct Inspections and Audits: Participate in routine safety inspections, hazard assessments, and internal audits.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Gather and analyze EHS data, prepare reports, and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Incident Investigation Support: Assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
  • Training and Communication: Help develop and deliver safety training materials and communications to plant personnel.
  • Waste and Recycling Management: Support initiatives related to waste reduction, recycling, and environmental sustainability.
  • Participate in Safety Meetings: Attend and contribute to safety committee meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Contractor Safety Management: Assist in onboarding and monitoring contractors to ensure compliance with site safety protocols.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Support emergency response planning, including drills, equipment checks, and documentation updates.
  • Ergonomics and Workplace Assessments: Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements to reduce risk of injury.
  • Chemical Inventory and SDS Management: Help maintain chemical inventories and ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are up to date and accessible.
  • Regulatory Research: Assist in researching and interpreting applicable environmental and safety regulations.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned: Take on additional tasks as needed to support the EHS team and plant operations.
