BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
This position will provide key contributions to the OC Doors Quality Management System as our established processes evolve to achieve and maintain COPQ objectives.
Collaborating with Divisional and Local operations to improve performance through disciplined use of tools including structured problem solving and Lean
Management Systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for facilitating and training personnel in the use of structured problem-solving tools to improve plant first-time yield rates and meet the Cost of Quality objectives.
- Leads Quality Department and quality personnel, i.e., Quality Engineers, Quality Technicians, and Quality Auditors in their day to-to-day job responsibilities.
- Provide leadership and guidance in the selection and implementation of quality improvement projects
- Manage the quality support functions, such as incoming inspection, non-conforming materials, supplier quality mgmt., customer complaint mgmt. and quality reporting.
- Monitors adherence to engineering standards by implementing adequate methods for inspection, testing, process feedback
- Characterizes and measures process performance and develops plan to improve process capability.
- Effectively communicates performance and quality mgmt. adherence to various levels of the organization.
- Supports and facilitates auditor compliance visits
- Develops and assists in the execution of new process and product validation plans.
- Manages corrective actions and customer quality issues, using CAPA and 8D tools.
- Develops and implements control plans and process controls.
- Collaborates with Supply Chain function to identify and execute improvement opportunities related to incoming materials. Establishes AQL, testing plans, PPAPs including critical-to-quality elements to be validated at the supplier, or upon inspection and release at the manufacturing plant.
- Well versed in Green Belt, or Black Belt, problem solving methodology and utilizes statistical and DOE tools to measure and refine process control systems.
- Performs configuration management of SOP’s, and other critical documentation to reflect a continual improvement in quality requirements.
- Monitors on-going performance of systems, prioritizing actions to achieve annual commitments.
- Follows all Environmental Health and Safety rules requirements.
3.0 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Education:
- Position requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
- Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or Certified Quality Engineer certification from ASQ highly desired or ability to obtain within one year.
- Experience:
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred
- 2-4 years manufacturing quality experience with progressive levels of responsibility
- Lead Auditor experience is preferred.
- 2 plus years’ experience operating in a QMS environment.
- Basic quality system knowledge (Document Controls, process audits, SPC, Sampling plans ANOVA, DOE, SPC).
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills are required.
- Preferred APQP Tools (FMEA, Control Plan, etc.)
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, PDCA, DMAIC, etc)
