Night Shift: Monday - Friday morning 8:00pm-6:30am

Hourly Rate: $19 plus shift differential

Job Description:

  • Operate machinery required for particular position in a safe and efficient manner, to include training of new and existing operators in the carrying out of their duties.
  • Inspect product for defects and take appropriate action as per work instructions, monitor Quality Technician for consistency
  • Carry out measurements and weight checks
  • Assemble product as per instructions with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Practice Masonite Lean Manufacturing Techniques including 5S+1
  • Communicate efficiently with other employees and the leadership team in order to ensure quality product is made timely
  • Read and interpret list counts and complete all departmental paperwork correctly and timely
  • Perform weekly EHS audits
  • Participate in Safety Kaizens and Masonite Plant Kaizens
  • Help create/implement poke yokes for quality issues
  • Read, understand and follow production schedules
  • Set up and adjust equipment
  • Gather materials as needed
  • Operate motorized equipment (ie forklift, KVAL lifts, etc) as needed
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance and operator care as required
  • Assist Management, Maintenance and Quality personnel when troubleshooting equipment, process or material issues
  • Communicate effectively for flow of product through the plant
  • Maintain downtime records and production information as appropriate
  • Perform housekeeping duties
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Work safely and follow safety rules and procedures
  • Use a Tape Measure, Caliper
  • Use push carts
  • Performs visual quality check of entire stack as they come down the conveyor
  • Repair newly and previously identified doors with quality defects
  • Restack doors meeting quality specs
  • Push pallets on conveyor
  • Place unrepairable doors in cull door stack
  • Complete reject sheets appropriately for tickets to be remade
  • Operate jump tracks
  • Straighten doors
  • Push door stacks onto infeed tracks of paint booth
  • Use tools such as glue gun, palm sander, sanding block, chisel, putty knives, clamps, and application of bondo, hot melt glue, touch up paint, and putty

Knowledge:

  • Read interpret ticket
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Ability to add and subtract fractions and whole numbers, convert fractions to decimals
  • Read interpret ticket such as door/customer quality specs
  • Identify defects
  • Knowledge of hand tools such as sanders, planers, hand tools putty knife, sanding block wood chisel
  • High attention to detail for defects

Skills:

Ability to use wood craftsmanship tools to repair doors. High quality standard required and some creativity required.

Responsibility:

Moderate level of responsibility, to identify defects, make repairs using tools provided, and make decisions for what can/cannot be repaired. Responsibility to minimize COQ impact while meeting customer quality expectations.

Physical Demands:

Manually lift/slide/flip materials or doors up to 50 lbs and over with assistance. (bending, stooping, twisting, - dexterity. Standing for long continuous hours.

Mental Demands:

Fast paced job with continuous focus on finding defects.  Constant focus on visual quality inspection of doors.

Social:

Communicate with upstream and downstream departments  - expectation to immediately communicate internal process oriented defects for quick recovery/repair.

Working Environment:

Mildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions. High dust and noisy environment.
