The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for leading all shipping operations within the manufacturing facility to ensure the safe, accurate, and on-time shipment of finished goods to customers. This role directly supervises shipping personnel, coordinates daily shipping activities, maintains inventory accuracy, and partners closely with Production, Planning, Materials, Customer Service, along with the load center and Transportation providers to meet customer delivery requirements. The Shipping Supervisor drives operational excellence through employee development, process improvement, safety leadership, and adherence to quality standards. This is an onsite position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, coach, and develop shipping team members to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and customer service objectives.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate daily shipping activities to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Supervise shipping personnel, including work assignments, training, performance management, attendance, and employee development.
  • Ensure all customer orders are processed, verified, loaded, and shipped accurately and on schedule.
  • Partner with Production, Planning, Materials, Warehouse, and Customer Service teams to align shipping priorities with production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and labor utilization to maximize efficiency and maintain operational continuity.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper transaction processing, cycle count support, and investigation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Coordinate carrier scheduling, transportation activities, and shipment documentation to ensure efficient product movement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, customer requirements, and shipping procedures.
  • Analyze shipping performance metrics and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping errors, inventory variances, transportation issues, and customer concerns.
  • Participate in daily operational meetings and communicate shipping priorities, issues, and performance results to plant leadership.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives within the shipping department.
  • Promote a culture where safety is the highest priority by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  •  Foster a culture of employee engagement, accountability, and inclusion through effective communication, recognition, coaching, and development of team members.
  • Support employee retention efforts by promoting a positive work environment, addressing employee concerns, and developing team members through training and career growth opportunities.
  • Conduct performance discussions, provide regular feedback, and partner with Human Resources on employee development, corrective actions, and performance management activities.
  • Conduct and document employee relations, attendance, policy, safety, and workplace investigations as needed, ensuring fair, consistent, and timely resolution of issues in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Promote compliance with company policies, procedures, and OC's Values while maintaining a respectful and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned to support business objectives.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong knowledge of shipping, warehousing, inventory control, logistics, and transportation operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively respond to changing production schedules and customer demands.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and inventory management processes; Masterpak experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of shipping documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to analyze operational data and utilize key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • EDUCATION:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, leadership experience, and demonstrated success within a manufacturing environment will be considered.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in shipping, warehousing, logistics, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing inventory transactions, shipping documentation, and transportation coordination.
  • Proven track record of improving operational performance, inventory accuracy, safety, and customer service.
  • Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or warehouse optimization initiatives is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, team-building, and employee development skills.
