Pay Rate: $23 an hour plus shift differential

 

Summary:

The Shipping Team Lead supports the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor and ultimately the Production Scheduling and Inventory Manager in the day-to-day operations and oversight of their designated team and will assist in the training and development of the team. Must hit KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to develop and progress in company.

 

Job Description:

  • Provides leadership at the Tier meetings ensuring metrics are reviewed; metric misses are addressed with countermeasures, root cause identification, corrective actions, with assigned responsibility and target completion dates and ensure any support required is identified and verified.
  • Maintains the integrity of board data and information.
  • Assigns process/team members (Operators) to daily work assignments and ensure all required training and certifications are evaluated and complied with for the assignment.
  • Attends Tier meetings escalating issues requiring additional support and communicating the result of the items escalated along with returning any required information to the Tier team area.
  • Locates and communicates all issues for daily schedules.
  • Maintains housekeeping and safety.
  • Assists Supervisor in providing training, demonstration and coaching to assigned process/teams.
  • Assists Supervisor with assessing team member development needs and developing training plans.
  • Provides regular communication, feedback, coaching and ongoing support to operators regarding process.
  • Ensures all safety practices and checks are being followed.
  • Assists employees in the interpretation of procedures, methods and correct use of equipment to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Performs visual checks to make sure that the product is acceptable for shipment.
  • Assists in the administration of plant rules and other policies and procedures in a fair and equitable manner. 
  • Required to spend the majority of your time on the production floor. You will also be required to complete daily audits and constantly monitor employee performance to optimize efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.

 

 

Knowledge:

  • 5 plus years work experience in a manufacturing environment required;
  • Successful candidates have shown a good performance record of technical competence and leadership demonstrated through performance feedback at the meets or exceeds expectations level.
  • Working knowledge and experience of production flow and processes.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to use a computer with MicroSoft Programs; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Highly energized and self-motivated with experience working with teams to implement change.
  • Have the patience, perseverance and passion to drive the lean culture across the plant.
  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate a group of peers without direct supervision authority.
  • Must be flexible to help Shipping department at all times or other departments.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends when needed (with minimum notice).

Skills:

Strong knowledge of manufacturing production processes/doors/raw materials, manufacturing needs to complete daily demands, the ability to make decisions with limited information. Read/interpret schedules/tickets, customer specifications, quality standards and read tape measure to 1/32". Understand the job requirements for all positions within their area of responsibility. Some knowledge of upstream/downstream departments processes. Strong knowledge of how their department impacts the next department and the next shift.

 

Responsibility:

Little to no supervision, must be self-motivated and reliable with a strong work ethic.

 

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bending, twisting, stooping, and standing throughout your shift. Must work at a fast pace and handle multiple parts that have glue on them. Strong eye/hand coordination. Standing for long continuous hours.

 

Mental Demands:

Attention to detail for shipping accuracy.  

 

Social:

Must work closely with team members and other members of leadership in other departments.  

 

Working Environment:

Mildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions. Mild dust environment.
