Yard Jockey-Forklift-Gen Labor

In this position during down time from moving trucks, the employee drives a forklift in the plant as needed and will work on the floor in shipping.  When the employees is moving trucks, the employee will spot trailers for shipping, receiving, and offsite warehouse.  Operator drives a yard jockey (truck) to move trailers.  Driver achieves this by communicating with multiple different sources (shipping, receiving, maintenance, offsite warehouse), maintain equipment checklists and ensure equipment is maintained properly. Take wood boxes and trash compactor to designated waste/recycling centers. Constantly update shipping with new trailer arrivals and assist in shipping. Inspect, Open, and close all containers. Communicate equipment damage immediately. Drive forklift as needed inside of the plant assisting with production and other areas in the warehouse.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to be certified and drive a forklift.
• Ability to work on the shipping floor in the department assisting where needed to ensure shipping demands are met.
• Knowledge of trucks and trailers and how they operate,
• Knowledge of safety procedures on spotting trailers including wheel chocks and tandem pin, 
• DOT Standards and mechanical knowledge of trucks and trailers.
• Must have a valid and drivers current license.
• Climbing on/off a forklift and in/out of truck multiple times per day.
• Spotting trailers constantly throughout the day - High level driving skill that requires high level of concentration.  Multi-tasking is essential as multiple requests at once.
• Must have good attendance and safety records.
• Able to communicate with multiple people and employees throughout the day.
• Must demonstrate solid teamwork abilities.
• This position requires high attention to detail.
• A plus- CDL Certified and Licensed,

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and sit up to 10 hours per day.
• The employee is frequently required to perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; and up to 80 lbs with assistance and is frequently required to bend, twist, stoop, walk, pull, reach, and ability to do so at a fast pace.
• Ability to handle multiple parts and to stand throughout entirety of shift.
• The employee will be working in a facility with a high level of forklift traffic.
• Intense and high level of concentration to focus on product quality and productivity.
• Strong eye/hand coordination.
• Ability to work in a mildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions, with a significant amount of dust.
• Good attendance and ability to work overtime and weekends when circumstances and workload requires, as assigned by management.
