Fort Smith team works 24/7 creating wet formed fiberglass mat that is used in further manufacturing processes, such as shingles. Our new facility is nearing completion and has increased the size of our team, and another new production line is just starting construction.

This role will work day shift and will not work every weekends. Generally works 4 days/10 hours with flexibility required to support 24/7 Facility.
SUMMARY
The Automation and Controls Specialist works with plant teams to meet set objectives in the areas of safety, quality, reliability, scrap, and lean manufacturing. The Automation and Controls Specialist works with all departments to justify and complete continuous improvement projects and assists with skills assessment and development of the site maintenance and instrument technicians. Work Schedule is Tuesday – Friday 6a – 4p.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Insures safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work areas, building a culture where EHS excellence is the top priority for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Identifies and immediately corrects risks and hazards in the workplace
- Follows and enforces all company policies and work rules including but not limited to Safety, Environmental, Quality, Management of Change and Capital Execution.
- Follow NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA electrical requirements as well as corporate LTT policies when troubleshooting and modifying electrical and control systems.
- Site Electrical expert for all voltages between 5VDC to 12.47kV
- Coordinate full scope of small site-specific capital projects, working with vendors and contractors as necessary.
- Programming of PLC’s as needed to support ongoing site operations, improvement initiatives and capital projects.
- Assist with upgrade, design, and integration of equipment into automated systems including overseeing installation, troubleshooting and debugging of machinery.
- Develop and/or improve electrical preventive maintenance plans for site equipment, including, but not limited to: screw tightening, component replacement, visual inspection, data collection, panel cleaning, panel wiring, wire tracing, panel documenting and various other duties. Train and oversee instrument technicians on proper execution.
- Electrical and automation troubleshooting: diagnosing problems by applying various troubleshooting techniques with the use of computers, PLC’s, voltage meters, current meters, oscilloscopes and electrical formulas.
- Actively participate in projects involving panel building, equipment relocation and system design.
- Responsible for creating and updating plant electrical prints
- Support Electrical Controls Engineer and MTCE Leadership in performing skills and training needs assessment for maintenance craft personnel, develop and assist with execution of training plan to advance their troubleshooting, electrical safety and programming skills.
- Actively support development and management of plant’s electronic equipment obsolescence strategy
- Maintain compatible and updated PLC and drive revision and firmware
- Provide support for the IT Site Contact.
- Support management of site software licenses to ensure the correct versions for site equipment
- Assist in the development of an electrical monitoring system to predict failure and analyze data to optimize equipment performance
- Set up a calibration program for process instrumentation and measurement equipment
- Performs root cause failure analysis and develops troubleshooting guides for site equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ year Motor Testing hands on experience. Understanding of machine diagnostics and complex operating systems; ability to understand and use reference materials (manuals, schematics, etc.); knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and data analysis.
- Complete Tia Portal Programming 1 & Complete PCS7 System engineering 1 within 12 months
- Complete Tia Portal Programming 2 & Complete PCS7 System engineering 2 within 24months
- Complete Sinamics S120/G120 Maintenance and Troubleshooting and Tia Portal Safety Engineering within 36 months.
- Strong electrical and instrumentation aptitude and experience.
- Must demonstrate industrial electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Past performance that demonstrates self-starting behaviors and ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Technically orientated and knowledgeable in manufacturing systems.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in computer programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3 Years experience in related electrical and informal leadership experience.
- Prefer Associates/Technical program in field with 3 Years experience in related electrical and informal leadership experience
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Must possess advanced critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Must work well in team environment
- Must have the ability to do advanced mathematical calculations
- Must attend internal and external training on or off site, travel may be required.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
- Navigate SAP Work Order System proficiently
- Database creation, extrapolation, and technical reporting
- Document and modify PLC programs. (AB & Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal)
- Update and program HMI’s using Factory Talk View ME or WinCC
- Create and Navigate documents in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
