SUMMARY

The PdM – Predictive Maintenance Technician utilizes condition-based monitoring & testing equipment as well as associated software to evaluate and trend the Fort Smith plants assets.  Technologies used include, but not limited to, vibration collection & analysis, ultrasound, thermography, motor testing, and tribology.  Equipment requiring monitoring and testing includes pumps, compressors, gearboxes, motors, rolls, MCC’s, utilities, as well as a variety of unique pieces of equipment associated with infrastructure. Participate in root cause and breakdown analysis as a PM Pillar representative.  Working with Maintenance Planning group to develop a plan for the needed corrective work based on condition monitoring technics used and verify parts are onsite so work can be scheduled.  This position provides support to all departments for continuous improvement projects.  The position also assists Maintenance Leadership with PdM & precision maintenance skills assessment as well as hands on training of the site maintenance technicians. Work schedule is Tuesday – Friday Days 6a-4p.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Insures safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work areas, building a culture where EHS excellence is the top priority for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Identifies and immediately corrects risks and hazards in the workplace
  • Coordinate full scope of small site-specific capital projects, working with vendors and contractors as necessary.
  • Act as a site technical representative and support technicians with hands on training.
  • Recommend and implement reliability improvements for equipment and process.
  • Support MTCE Leadership in performing skills and training needs assessment for maintenance personnel, develop and assist with execution of training plan to advance their PdM & precision maintenance skills.
  • Ability to access equipment pits, work platforms, cat walks, roof and similar areas by ladder, as well as walk several miles per day.
  • Perform some corrective work as needed.
  • Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and call-out as needed for plant or project support

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Complete basic Level I Vibration Analysis certification identified in ISO or ASNT SNT-TC-1A within 12 months.
  • Complete Level II certification within 3 years
  • Complete within 12 months MLT1 Certification (Machinery Lubrication Technician Level 1)
  • 1+ year Ultrasound hands on experience
  • Complete Level 1 Ultrasound certification in 12 months.  (Level I or Level II certification desired)
  • 1+ year Thermography hands on experience
  • Complete Level 1 Thermography Certification within 12 months.
  • 1+ year Motor Testing hands on experience.
  • Demonstrated application of precision maintenance skills.  (Laser Alignment, Bolting & Fastening, Belt Tensioning, etc)
  • Past performance that demonstrates self-starting behavior and ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Technically orientated and knowledgeable in manufacturing systems.
  • Understanding of machine diagnostics and complex operating systems; ability to understand and use reference materials (manuals, schematics, etc.); knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and data analysis.
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize workload required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • PLUS: with High School Diploma or Equivalent: 5 Years experience in related field
  • Prefer Associate degree in related field or Technical School Program in related field
  •  PLUS: with Associates/Technical program: Two years experience in related field
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must possess advanced critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Must work well in team environment
  • Must have the ability to do advanced mathematical calculations
  • Must attend internal and external training on or off site, travel may be required.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Create and Navigate documents in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment, operate a computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Vision adequate to manipulate equipment controls, complete paperwork, utilize computers, and have depth perception.
