PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

The Acoustics Research Center Lab Leader will partner with key technical, manufacturing, and business partners to identify, define, coordinate, and execute on key testing, test method development, and fundamental acoustics testing knowledge areas. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all OC Safety and NVLAP requirements. This role is also responsible for the coaching and mentoring of lab staff– associate scientists, technicians, and contractors to deliver on Owens Corning goals and the goals of the Insulation Business. The Lab Leader will also represent Owens Corning to the external consensus standards  community along with external acoustic labs and trade organizations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Living Safely

  • Leads and participates in regular safety meetings and ensures rigorous compliance to standard safety procedures and OC corporate policies.
  • Leads the development and maintenance of safety documents for the Acoustic Research Center
  • Focuses on sustaining a safe work environment for self and co-workers.

 

Lab Leadership

 

Lead External Testing & Lab Strategy

  • Develops and supports the execution of short & long-term growth plans and objectives for Acoustic Research Center aligned with the Owens Corning business strategy and coordinated with Acoustic Principal Scientist and Insulation Specialty Testing Leader
  • Identifies opportunities to expand test labs capabilities and revenue generation as a leading industry testing service.
  • Partners with external customers creating and leading non-routine testing and providing analysis of results separating the Acoustic Research Center from other laboratories
  • Develops, delivers, and executes growth plan for external testing

 

Continued Individual Development

  • Develops into a respected Subject Matter Expert of acoustics, noise, and vibration across all industry platforms leveraging internal and external mentors including the Owens Corning Acoustical Principal Scientist.
  • Provides leadership in consensus standards committees (ASTM, ASA, INCE, etc.) to curate standards that impact Owens Corning
  • Builds cross-business relationships to help identify opportunities for growth in fundamental testing, and initiates research to develop in these areas

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • M.S. in Acoustics, Physics, Engineering, or similar field
  • 2+ years of experience in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) field with exposure to ASTM, and international standards.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis
  • Ability to travel 10%

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience leading people/small team
  • 4+ years of experience in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) field with experience in ISO9001, ASTM, and international standards.
  • Experience with new product development with customers
  • Proficient in Minitab or other modeling software
  •  Experience with B&K Pulse software or equivalent software.
