The Advanced Engineer R&D will support new process development and improvement of existing processes by developing, optimizing, and validating processes mimics and implementing at scale. This role provides hands-on engineering expertise for wet laid mat and single-sided coating processes, helping translate lab and pilot learnings into practical solutions for scale-up, manufacturing improvement, and commercialization.

Reports to: New Business Development Lab Leader

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and optimize wet laid mat and single-sided coating processes for new and existing processes.
  • Create and improve lab and pilot-scale process mimics to accelerate learning and support scale-up decisions.
  • Provide engineering support for troubleshooting and improving current manufacturing processes.
  • Plan and execute experiments and trials, analyze data, and communicate clear recommendations.
  • Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, operations, and commercial partners to move ideas from concept to implementation.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering discipline.
  • Engineering experience in process development, process optimization, manufacturing support, or pilot-scale experimentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, data analysis, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working hands-on in laboratory, pilot, and manufacturing environments.
  • CFD modeling experience; Ansys experience preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Experience with wet laid mat processes, including paper or glass mat manufacturing.
  • Experience with single-sided coating application and coating methods, processes and products common in the paper and building materials markets.
  • Experience developing and using process mimics to support product development, optimization, and scale-up.
