PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

The Portfolio Data Scientist is a key analytics role within the R&D IMPACT Portfolio Management team, responsible for driving actions that improve business performance, productivity and continuous improvements through the R&D Organization.

 

Reports toSr. Global R&D Portfolio Leader

 

Span of Control: Individual contributor that works across Enterprise

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Apply advanced analytics to ensure visibility and exposure of critical data, necessary for proper portfolio investment decisions.
  • Compile and Visualize key Innovation metrics into KPI dashboards for communication to executive leadership.
  • Validate data model output with key business and R&D partners to ensure high data quality.
  • Work in a team environment to advance understanding of R&D processes, outcomes and investment profile.
  • Apply deep and broad knowledge of advanced analytical techniques.
  • Communicate across engineering and business colleagues at all levels of the organization and collaborate in a business-sensitive manner that is flexible and unbiased.
  • Leverage AI platform for expedient and repeatable generation of code

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical Expertise – Two to five years of experience applying advanced analytic techniques (data modeling, data visualization, descriptive statistics) to solve complex business problems
  • Experience with PowerBI (Dax, Query Editor), Python, SQL, Java, strong database skills.
  • Project Leadership – Ability to execute small to medium scale projects with the ability to define scope schedule, cost, risk, resources and change management
  • Education Requirements – Advanced degree (currently enrolled or completed) or Bachelor’s degree with 2-5 years experience in analytical competency (Data Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, etc.) is required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  •  Bachelor’s degree with 2-5 years experience in analytical competency (Data Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, etc.) is required. Experience gained acquiring and advanced degree will be accepted.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Technology Leadership – Strong working knowledge of contemporary analysis technology, software platforms and methodologies with the ability to apply  to business processes.
  • Analytics – Demonstrated experience in applying statistical techniques  (descriptive, predictive, prescriptive) to solve business problems. Hunger to learn new techniques, technology, platforms and methodologies.
  • Visualization and Reporting – Demonstrated experience in effective utilization techniques to explore data to find root causes as well as presentation of results. Clearly and concisely report results in the form of dashboards, KPIs and standardized reports to drive business decisions.
  • Business Confidentiality – Trustworthy with sensitive & confidential business information, keeping all internal and external disclosure rules.
