PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

Roofing Pilot Line Leader leads a team that operates and extend the capabilities to mimic products and processes. This team and asset are the engine for Roofing Innovation of shingles and self-adhered underlayment. Roofing Pilot Leader will collaborate across the Roofing R&D organization to understand pilot & mimic demand, and then align resources to priority requests.

Span of Control: Roofing Pilot Line and team of 4 located at the Granville Science & Technology Center.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Living Safely

People Leadership

  • Provides leadership to team through coaching, mentoring, and support of pilot initiatives, automation/efficiency, and adding capabilities.
  • Builds and maintains a high performing team and works to develop and engage team members according to growth plans.
  • Completes individual team performance reviews and overall talent review, ensuring the team has the right talent and capabilities to be successful.
  • Challenges team to achieve maximum potential and advances direct reports.
  • Participates in identifying and recruiting talent to ensure a strong pipeline of talent within Roofing

 

Develop Operational Standards, Prioritization, and Expertise

  • Partner with pilot personnel to ensure proper training and documentation is maintained for all applicable operational capabilities.
  • Obtains prioritization of pilot trial requests across Roofing’s Innovation portfolio, then leads team to obtain all materials, equipment, and personnel necessary to execute per schedule
  • Establishes themselves as subject matter experts on pilot and educates the team on capabilities, prototyping, and in-line and off-line tests of product mimics.

 

Maintain Operational Excellence

  • Manage overall pilot operations to ensure accurate data and samples from each trial.
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance and equipment calibration plans met and performed to OC TPM standards
  • Utilize metrics to report output of pilot, and then identify opportunity to improve processes, procedures, and controls to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to drive innovation by changing Pilot technologies to support developments in Roofing and Building Materials industry.
  • Manage expense and capital budgets in support of pilot maintenance and build out of new capabilities.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience working in a R&D
  • B.S. in Science, Engineering, or similar field

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstration of safe work practices in operational or mimic environment
  • Strong process development knowledge along with ability to link to product performance
  • People leadership skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Makes data-driven decisions and focuses on the root cause of the problem

  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel/Minitab
  • Exposure to ISO 9001, ASTM, and international standards
