JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
About The Program:
The Science & Technology Leadership Program (STLP) provides you with a powerful development journey and opportunities to make significant business impact. This is a three-year development program with projects focused on building and enhancing technical expertise and capabilities in critical business areas. The program prepares you for future success and development with a 1-year training curriculum, senior technical level mentors, and connections to senior leadership.
We are seeking an engineer with a background in fundamental/applied building science and have capabilities with hygrothermal and CFD modeling to join our Building Science and Advanced Modeling team. This is a key role that works in conjunction within our broader Enterprise Products & Solutions Innovation team. This role will work across early evaluation of new system concepts, aid in evaluating risk and performance of prototype innovations and provide key data and analysis to understand how those final solutions will best perform in various climates across North America and Europe. The ideal candidate will have a blend of capabilities in material property evaluation, advanced systems modeling and actual lab/field testing to validate outcomes. Your work will directly contribute to delivering a capability to model, test and deliver high-performing digital twins that aid in delivering Transformational Enterprise Innovations.
Job Responsibilities:
Advanced Modeling:
- Execute advanced modeling via WUFI®, COMSOL Multiphysics®, THERM, etc. software to evaluate the efficacy of materials, products and systems from a perspective of moisture, thermal, durability and occupant comfort.
- Through advanced modeling, you will provide key risk analysis and mitigation strategies for materials, products and systems thus enabling key project decisions.
- Provide guidance on how products and solutions perform in models by climate zone
- Work across multiple businesses to provide analytics guidance for innovations (Insulation, Roofing, Doors, North America and Europe).
Lab & 3rd Party Testing Validation & Digital Twin Development:
- You will collaborate with our lab technicians and field applications engineers to sensor, test and validate key products and systems by various climate zones.
- This testing will include some time onsite in our Granville, OH building science lab testing apparatus and some additional time in the field validating assemblies and building performance of various customer projects across North America.
- Utilize the testing data to validate the effectiveness of inputs and outputs from advanced models that will ultimately enable highly reliable digital twins for specific applications.

Strategic Integration & Thought Leadership:
- Contribute to the evolution of Owens Corning’s digital twin advanced modeling capabilities.
- Author internal white papers, participate in external publications, and represent the team in cross-functional and industry forums.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Fluid Dynamics plus Building Science curriculum
- Advanced Simulation Modeling in WUFI®, COMSOL Multiphysics® and/or THERM
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable strategies.
- Willingness to travel as needed (15-30%) to support project work.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Capable in REM/Rate™, Ekotrope RATER, EnergyGauge® USA/SUMMIT, REScheck™, COMcheck™ & BEopt™ systems
- 2+ years with Fundamental or Applied Building Science experience (or Graduate level project experience)
- HVAC system knowledge
- Electrical engineering knowledge
