Job Title: Binder Implementation Technician
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Binder Implementation Technician focuses on enabling innovative solutions for insulation products as part of the Insulation Binder Science & Technology (S&T) Team. This position will be responsible for supporting the binder implementation team’s efforts of cost and quality improvement projects related to the development and implementation of new binder solutions for the insulation business across the Technical and Building Insulation Groups.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Commits to identify and implement safety changes and audits in every plant where work is being done
Binder Development and Implementation
- Supports efforts for safe and effective execution of plant binder trials
- Designs, implements, and runs binder room equipment to enable trialing of new or revised binders, focused on binder delivery, application, and implementation across all insulation plants and binder systems
- Supports end-of-line testing for product performance verification during binder related trials
- Supports team in preparation of binder equipment and supply creates through identifying and preparing equipment and partnering with Shipping and Receiving team to coordinate shipments to trial locations
- Responsible for partnering with Operations, Maintenance, Product Development, and Product Engineering teams to drive efficient binder implementation projects aligned with business initiatives
- Maintains record/inventory, design potentials, and maintenance of various hosing, pumps, fittings, spray nozzles, tanks, etc. to be used in binder related trials and assessments
- Supports S&T, Advanced Manufacturing, and Operations teams with design and development of new or redesigned equipment to enable testing, qualification, or production for binder related efforts
Team Collaboration
- Supports collaboration among S&T, Process Development, and Operations teams to achieve business objectives related to insulation product cost, quality, and innovation
- Develop self and colleagues to properly prepare for and execute safe and efficient plant trials
- Sought after as an expert of Binder Application Systems and utilized as a resource across the organization to enable the research and implementation of new or revised chemistries, chemical processes, and application methods
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Strong technical aptitude for manufacturing processes
- Associates degree or higher in Engineering, Chemistry, or Related Technical Field
- 3+ years’ experience in Manufacturing, Maintenance, R&D, or Engineering work environment in lieu of degree
- Travel: 50%
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Chemical related manufacturing setting
- Familiarity with fluid handling and equipment – pumps, piping, hoses, etc.
- Forklift familiarity and/or certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to safely adapt thinking and trial plans to the demands of the moment in a high-pressure environment
- Able to understand a broad range of technical issues and demonstrates unconventional, out-of-the-box thinking in approaches to problem resolution
- Comfortable operating in the ambiguity of trial execution on a production line
- Hands-on approach towards using and troubleshooting trial/manufacturing equipment
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls aptitude as it relates to the sourcing, design, preparation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of general equipment
