PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Logistics Clerk is to ensure inbound and outbound traffic in the facilty is documented. Additionally, this role is the paperwork coordinator for the LTO drivers and responsible for coordinating with the shipping team to efficiently direct carriers to the correct location for loading or unloading .The role will be a combined responsibility of checking in/out all traffic to the facility, generating shipping paperwork, and communicating with customer service. The distribution of these duties will be directly defined by daily and seasonal business shipping needs.
The Logistics Clerk is a key contributor to the continuous improvements of critical plant performance metrics in the areas of safety, productivity, cost, quality and sustainability. This role is essential to the successful operations of the Houston Components Site. The Logistics Clerk is an hourly position reporting to Shipping Leader.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lives the Owens Corning Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment.
- Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, etc.
- Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.
- Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of warehouse storage areas and location of all products including samples and accessory items
- Perform cycle counts as requested
- Complete all required paperwork for carriers and file in the shipping department and serve as the primary contact for all paperwork
- Serve as a direct contact for all customer service needs – act as the liaison to customer service in Toledo
- Monitor inventories and turn over in timely manner
- Direct drivers to appropriate location or department
- Print BBS forms and enter into the system for Lift Truck Operators (LTO)
- Assist in keeping everyone updated on their safety credits
- Locate appropriate paperwork for LTO vacation time or shift swap and deliver it to appropriate department
- Communicate with transportation and help desk on a regular basis
- Receives STOs in SAP
- Reference information on all returns to confirm if the material meets quality specifications to re-ship
- Ability to create miscellaneous shipments
- LTL Process: work with LTL Carrier, print paperwork, verify shipment, and take photographs
- Use down time to clean and organize work area
- Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel.
- Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities as business needs dictate.
- Understands the needs of the customer and takes action to address those needs.
- Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities, and develops expertise in those areas.
- Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of this position, as directed by the area leader.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- History of strong performance and attendance
- Two or more year of manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Must remain drug and alcohol free

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Ability to stand for 12 hours straight
- Must be able to squat, bend at the waist and knees freely
- Exposure to temperature extremes
- Exposure to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
- Bending and twisting
- Repetitive Movements
- Able to wear applicable PPE for 12 hours
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED TRAINING
- All annual safety and role specific training, as required by the nature of this position
- Initial TPM autonomous steps 0-1 and additional training as site progresses
