PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

 

The Financial Analyst provides finance support for the Owens Corning Irving, TX Roofing and Asphalt plants.  This position is accountable for providing a clear and insightful view of the financial outlook of the plants as well as meaningful and timely reporting of results.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in leveraging financial modeling and analytics to provide business insights that result in actionable plans and contribute to the achievement of short and long-term objectives of the facilities. 

 

STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Improve plant profitability

  • Supports actions in line with achieving targets, mitigating risk and prioritizing resource needs,
  • Proactive development of contingency plans, productivity improvement and corrective actions to ensure facility optimal financial results.
  • Provides insightful and competitive analytics that anticipate change and drive decision making.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to non-finance managers regarding issues of financial control and compliance.

 

Cross-functional leadership and team contribution

  • Work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant objectives.
  • Shares best practices, i.e., process improvements, financial modeling and procedural changes.
  • Aligns teams and resources to solve problems and drive results.
  • Provide functional expertise to plant leadership and team members.
  • Support the plant data steward function as the designated back-up to that role.
  • Raise all issues of significant risk and non-compliance to the Financial Leader for the business group.
  • Participate in driving TPM and safety excellence.  This position is a member of the Office Excellence TPM Pillar.
  • Maintain a clear tone regarding business conduct, ethics, the law, and financial controls.

 

TACTICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executing the monthly financial closing process.
  • Understanding and ensuring that finance processes are compliant with SOX guidelines.
  • Prepare various division level reports and analyses.

 

Reporting and analysis

  • Supports financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Prepares and delivers the plant financial forecasts and projections.
  • Communicates results effectively to management and non-financial personnel.
  • Provides in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast.
  • Educates plant personnel on key performance metrics.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline
  • 1-3 years’ experience in financial planning and analysis manufacturing experience strongly preferred

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Required

  • Knowledge of manufacturing costing principles
  • Understanding of and ability to work within SOX control environment.
  • Must be willing to relocate from DFW area for future opportunities.

Preferred

  • Intermediate experience in Excel and other Office Applications
  • Understanding of GAAP
  • Working knowledge of SAP strongly preferred
  • Effectively develops business cases and enroll leaders at all levels in taking appropriate action
