ROLE SUMMARY
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant electrical systems and manufacturing equipment up to 480 VAC. Promote safe, reliable operation through sound electrical practices, systematic fault-finding, and timely corrective action. Strong industrial electrical fundamentals are required; PLC and controls experience is a plus, and training is available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follow company safety and environmental requirements. Apply NFPA 70E and LTT (Lock Tag Try); select and use appropriate arc-flash PPE, voltage-rated tools, and test equipment. Report incidents, near misses, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly; maintain clean work areas and reinforce safe practices.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant power and control circuits, distribution equipment, transformers, MCCs, panels, breakers, disconnects, lighting, wiring, conduit, cable tray, and junction boxes in accordance with NEC and plant standards.
• Maintain and diagnose AC/DC and servo motors, starters, contactors, overloads, relays, sensors, encoders, soft starters, and VFDs. Use meters and other diagnostic tools to verify voltage, current, rotation, and insulation; troubleshoot drive faults and consult OEM support as needed.
• Lead electrical troubleshooting during downtime. Read schematics, one-lines, wiring and ladder diagrams, panel layouts, P&IDs, and manuals; identify root causes, resolve recurring failures, and recommend safety, reliability, and maintainability improvements.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems and machinery, including inspections, thermography, motor condition checks, and power-quality reviews. Identify and correct deficiencies before failure.
• Opportunity to Develop controls skills and support PLC-controlled equipment using electrical and I/O diagnostics. Verify field devices, wiring, communications, inputs, and outputs; assist controls staff, engineers, and vendors; refer required program changes to authorized controls personnel. Participate in assigned controls training.
• Maintain work records and technical documentation; redline drawings, verify electrical bills of material, and maintain approved PLC, HMI, and drive backups. Support installations, upgrades, capital projects, contractors, and cross-functional maintenance training.
• Work with and around Hot Oil, Asphalt, & Steam Systems
• Perform other duties as assigned.
INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• Industrial electrical troubleshooting; three-phase systems up to 480 VAC; distribution, motor controls, and VFDs; NFPA 70E, LTT(Lockout Tag Try), and applicable NEC requirements.
• Read electrical schematics, one-lines, diagrams, technical manuals, and procedures; use electrical test and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail; make timely decisions under pressure and work independently or with a team.
• Basic computer skills and working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or welding tasks; ability and willingness to learn PLCs, HMIs, networks, and automation systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required: • High school diploma or GED. • Five years of industrial electrical maintenance in manufacturing, or equivalent education and relevant experience. • Demonstrated troubleshooting experience with industrial electrical systems, motors, and motor controls. • Work independently with minimal supervision; maintain regular on-site attendance and rotate shifts and 24/7 on-call coverage. |

Preferred: • Journeyman license or completed electrical apprenticeship. • Associate degree in electrical technology, industrial maintenance, or related field. • PLC troubleshooting or programming experience; interest in automation and controls. • SAP or similar CMMS experience; NFPA 70E certification earned within the past three years; burner-system knowledge.(Honeywell/Fireye) |
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Able to do repetitive hand, arm, leg movements for several hours
- Able to climb on and off of fork truck
- Ability to stand for 10 - 12 hours straight
- Able to climb and descend stairs for up to 12 hours continuously
- Lift and push and pull 50lbs. More than 100 times per day
- Must be able to squat, bend at the waist and knees freely
- Exposure to temperature extremes
- Exposure to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
- Bending and twisting
- Handle, control or feel objects, tools or control
- Repetitive movements
