Box Builder - JACKSON PLANT
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Box Builder position is an hourly position that reports to the Shift Supervisor and Operations Leader. The employee is responsible for the creation of cardboard and plastic containers and for packaging preparation by ensuring all boxes meet the packaging standards. The employee must have a commitment to safety, quality, good housekeeping and environment regulations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely ensure proper creation of new and used cardboard and citadel boxes,
- Conduct inspections of all boxes to ensure quality standards are followed,
- Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in and around the box building areas,
- Follow all Owens Corning packaging standards for all boxes,
- Routinely clean citadels and remove any excess materials from boxes,
- Safely load boxes onto supply conveyors,
- Understands and can articulate the linkage between TPM and their daily tasks,
- Conduct non-essential tasks as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED),
- Forklift certification achieved,
EXPERIENCE:
- One to three months related experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals,
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence,
- Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization,
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals,
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs,
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form,
- Be able to work regular attendance on site,
- Ability to maintain forklift certification,
- Ability to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument,
- Ability to operate a word processing software, excel and email,
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations,
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts,
- While performing the duties of this job be frequently exposed to hot and cold condition,
- Be exposed to an environment where the noise level is loud,
- Be able to stand/bend for long periods of time,
- Work 12 hour rotating shifts,
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
