The Maintenance Supervisor is an integral part of the short and long-term planning and execution of the site's maintenance strategy. This position is responsible for leading and managing the maintenance team through coordination of resources and activities for all maintenance functions in the plant. The successful candidate will provide the link between maintenance functions and production needs. 

 

SCOPE OR DIMENSIONS OF THE POSITION
This position will have responsibility for 10+ direct reports providing leadership, identifying and developing technical acumen, and ensuring mechanical coverage for a continuous operation that ideally runs 24/7.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide day to day direction for a team of 10+ maintenance craft persons with electrical, mechanical and process knowledge. Responsible for schedule creation and assignment(s), ensure completion of scheduled work, manages unplanned maintenance events, and maintaining labor costs within budget.
  • Works in collaboration with maintenance and operations personnel on planned events and special projects to cultivate an environment of reliability centered maintenance.
  • Direct the maintenance functions within the plant with minimum cost and high reliability to meet site and company goals.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure spare parts availability and control of assets is enhanced and sustained.
  • Responsible to further develop a strong safety culture and engagement toward safe work behaviors within the plant.
  • Develop and lead skills training sessions for both maintenance team and production team members. 
  • Develop the maintenance team through creation of internal and external training plan.
  • Enhance preventative maintenance instructions and sustain critical PM programs.
  • Control the ongoing repair and period maintenance budgets in line with the fiscal plan. Implement cost reductions to offset negative or unplanned variance to the fiscal plan.
  • Develop maintenance and reliability metrics. 
  • Analyze metrics and maintenance data to provide reporting to Maintenance Leader, to assist with making maintenance/reliability decisions and evaluate technician performance.
  • Develop and sustain a robust predictive maintenance program that includes but is not limited to lubrication, vibration, ultra sound, infrared analysis of our equipment to support decisions for equipment repair and maintenance.

 

SPECIFIC SCHEDULER ROLE EXPECTATIONS FOR MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

 

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the daily execution of Maintenance work.  

 

To execute the Weekly Schedule, the Maintenance Supervisor creates a Daily Schedule, assigns and Supervisor must supervise those resources during the execution of the work. 

 

A major component of executing the Daily Schedule is the coordination of Maintenance activities in an ever changing production environment.  When Urgent work arises, it must be inserted into the Weekly Schedule, and scheduled work must be rescheduled.   All of this is done with the consent of the Operations at the Daily Schedule Meeting or on the fly if urgency dictates.  In addition, the Maintenance Supervisor makes certain Urgent work is adequately planned to ensure safe and efficient execution.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Four year technical or engineering degree strongly preferred.
  • Scheduling and planning experience for maintenance personnel for team s of 8 or more.
  • Reliability centered maintenance experience preferred.
  • Team building skills to lead maintenance team and drive results.
  • Leadership and management skills required.
  • Highly motivated, self starter.
  • Analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy needed to work with software packages such as SAP, Excel, and Word.
  • Report generation and data analysis skills required.
  • Extensive knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC's highly beneficial.
