PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This position will lead the Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Operations for K6 in the Kansas City Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the maintenance process. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to motivate people and must be viewed as a clear and credible communicator. They must have a passion for safety and be able to foster effective working relationships built upon trust and respect with plant employees and leaders throughout the company.

 

Reports to: The Vertical Start Up Leader during start up and the Maintenance Leader post start up

 

Span of Control: ~15 employees

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Responsibilities

  1. Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities.
  • Implement a personal safety action plan and review with leader.
  • Ensures a safe work environment through employee coaching and engagement and strict adherence to OC’s safety policies and procedures while conducting environmental and quality activities.
  • Ensure the injury-free performance of fifteen (15+) primary member team.
  • Develops and implement a work environment characterized by mutual trust and respect, open and honest communications, teamwork, and a passion for winning.
  • Effectively lead and manage change for his / her workgroup while maintaining high levels of employee engagement.

 

  1. Responsible for all aspects of the Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Operations.
  • Ensures the routine maintenance of Plant equipment by:
    • Hiring, training and development, and performance reviews of new and existing craft employees.
    • Development and execution of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs consistent with our Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) approach for new equipment while working closely with vendors, contractors, project engineers, and internal maintenance.
    • Co-Leading and coaching of unionized primary maintenance workforce and driving engagement in the primary workforce.
  • Grow the service and quality culture in the department and meet / exceed established goals.

 

  1. Become a technical resource regarding the insulation manufacturing process, equipment, and protocols.
  • Technical knowledge in mechanical and electrical drive systems, fluid power systems, mixing systems, data acquisition, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for reliability performance and cost improvement. Understand our operating costs and continues to seek improvement in areas of need.

 

 

  1. Project / Startup Leadership – Pre-startup
        • Collaborate with capital delivery, COE, marketing, Sales, product engineering, logistics, and finance to ensure the K6 line is designed and built to meet production requirements, financial requirements, and customer requirements.
        • Develop and implement operational plans to achieve production targets and maximize efficiency.
        • Collaborates with the Human Resources Team on hiring and training of the plant team, including production operators, technical leads, and maintenance resources.
        • Ability to translate design into operability and operability into design.
        • Ability to influentially lead small workgroups to support the integrations of K6.
        • Oversee the qualification of equipment, personnel, and processes.

 

  1. Post-Startup Upon Start up - Directing operations to drive towards manufacturing excellence.
  • .
  • Identifies and drives continuous improvement efforts through both the personal use and promotion of TPM methodologies to cut cost and improve productivity and quality.
  • Support the development of a comprehensive annual capital budget and operations plan; initiates timely and appropriate capital requests to maintain or enhance plant performance necessary to meet customer needs.
  • Operates with zero environmental non-conformities to applicable company, government, and regulatory policies.
  • Continuously improves the plant operations environmental footprint consistent with company goals and community interests.

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Discipline or Technology Diploma (Mechanical maintenance) or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Three (3) – Five (5) years progressive leadership experience in manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated project or process management skills.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Six Sigma / Lean manufacturing experience is highly desired.
  • Exposure to cross-functional team leadership or participation within the organization
  • TPM experience or similar highly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to make decisions based on facts and / or data including having the basic mathematics and technical skills to analyze data, interpret graphs, and combine related data.
  2. Ability to lead unionized hourly employees.
  3. Ability to create and drive change and effectively communicate to all levels in the organization.
  4. Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as effectively facilitate open two-way communication both within and outside of the organization.
  5. Ability to work both strategically and hands-on.
