SUMMARY

 

Performs the role of providing support to packaging and production operations by performing processes which include, but are not limited to, procuring and placing bags on packaging equipment, hauling scrap, salvaging insulation and feeding same into reconditioning equipment, transporting direct materials, cleaning designated equipment and areas, loading material onto ware-trucks, and operating designated vehicles. Sets up, operates, monitors, adjusts, troubleshoots and maintains equipment related to these processes.

Measures, monitors and maintains quality standards.

 

Rate of Pay

$24.61/hr with a $1.25 night shift differential. 

 

Schedule
Rotating shifts. Schedules will rotate between nights and days every 2 weeks.

Dayshift: 7:00am - 7:00pm

Nightshift: 7:00pm - 7:00am

Weekly Schedule follows a 2-2-3 pattern:

Week 1: Work 2 days, off 2 days, then work 3 days.

Week 2: Off 2 days, work 2 days, then off 3 days.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Visually inspects, selects, packages and labels products according to specifications.
  • Positions and loads ware-trucks, racks, strings, etc., manually or by using assigned material handling equipment.
  • Sets up, operates, adjusts and inspects semiautomatic and automatic packaging equipment, (including, but not limited to, stretch wrappers, baggers, shift/code printers, manual overwraps, bales, autobaggers, unitizers, retail packaging, conveying systems, etc.). Obtains schedule information from SAP.
  • Performs packaging operations (including, but not limited to, palletizing, closing bags, wrapping bundles, etc.).
  • Disposes of off-quality material, scrap and other debris.
  • Reselects, repiles, relabels and/or repacks non-conforming finished goods.
  • Operates reconditioning machine to salvage offware (including, but not limited to, feeding, packaging, weighing, etc.).
  • Locates and Retrieves direct materials.  Takes inventory of direct and in-process materials.
  • Assists Level 2 Packer and Group Leader.
  • Operates manual and power operated walking material handling equipment.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of any equipment or quality problems and takes corrective actions within the scope of the job.
  • Assists in oven cleanouts, rebuilds and other downtimes.
  • Completes records and reports, (i.e., finished goods tallies, charts, etc.).
  • Applies protective coatings to equipment, floors, etc.

  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Must work well in team environment
  • Must be able to secure and maintain fork lift drivers license

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

The employee should have the following:

 

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Must have Kansas Work Ready Certificate
  • Possess valid forklift driver certification
  • Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the US
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be drug and alcohol free
  • Must have Kansas Work Ready Certificate

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

This position requires:

 

  • Exposure to temperature extremes
  • Exposure to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Prolonged sitting or standing for 8 hour shifts (and/or rotating shifts)
  • Repetitive movements
  • Bending or twisting
  • Handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Lifting/carrying/moving up to 50 pounds
  • Wearing respirator protection
  • Regular attendance on site and the ability to work varying or rotating shifts
  • Participates in the Safety and good housekeeping programs as established within the Plant
