Engineering Specialist

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
· Maintain batch process operation at consistent condition to get good material weighing capability and quality
· Improvement of weighing capability, quality and accuracy
· Maintain furnace operation at stable condition.
· Maintain the melting process at optimum performance level and extend furnace life time as long
as possible.
· Develop and improvement existing process to prevent possible hot ends process interruption
and operational risks.

Span of Control: Batch/Furnace
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Improvement and Development: (approximate time 40%) a. Review raw materials weighing consistency and calculate impact on furnace process and forming
performance (major and minor ingredient variation).
- Weighing consistency data analysis and improvement by process optimization
- Batch material supplement management and support
b. Batch process operation issue solution provision through communication with Stable Ops and
global batch operation team.
c. Furnace operation optimization through energy profile adjustment according to process data
monitoring and analysis.
d. Analyze furnace operation data (daily & monthly) and trouble shooting in relation to as following
items.
- Melter and forehearth temperature and internal pressure.
- Raw batch line and melting characteristics.
- Batch delivery and feeding issues.
- Combustion and fuel profile.
- Cooling to the melter and front ends.
- Fuel consumption (LNG/oxygen).
- E-boosting operation and profile.
e. Check emergency equipment for power failure or process interruption. (Back-Up Engine blowers)
f. Melter and front ends regular inspection for damage and follow-up for repair work and supplement.
(structure and refractories)
g. Implement furnace maintenance audit by furnace engineer regularly and Granville Expert (every
year).
- Evaluation melter and front end refractories corrosion
- Check and maintenance wind and water cooling process (Nozzles and Jackets)
- Check melter inside profile.
- Repair work if necessary.
h. Training and improvement furnace emergency control procedure.
i. Report furnace FOD and consistency scorecard to Granville and betterment if necessary.
j. Report results of trial and replacement of raw materials and process change.

k. Furnace operation trouble shooting and solution provision through communication with Stable Ops
and global melting team.
l. Arrange and preparation all the hot repair works for furnace operation standpoint with Stable Ops and Melting Technical Team.
m. Conduct hot repair for damaged refractories or equipment.
n. New technology implementation related to the furnace operation.
Support for improvement forming performance and technical issues (approximate time 35%)
a. Continuous batch and furnace operation data and feedback any finding and follow process mitigation
b. Analyze breaks per bushing hour by individual forehearth and melter
c. Deduce and solve the performance problems with production team’s cooperation.
d. Deliberation with engineer from Stable Ops and Granville S & T center in relation to technical issue
about Batch house and Furnace and Forming area including CE performance.
Others (approximate time 25%)
a. Make plan for batch and fuel consumption.
b. Monthly reporting batch and plant energy consumption
c. Analyze energy consumption on monthly basis (LNG/Oxygen/Nitrogen/Light Oil) and feedback to
operation.
d. Fiber forming process performance monitoring and feedback to production team
e. Safety improvement activity for batch and

JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · University degree required, preferably in Industrial Engineering or Material Science Engineering.
EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum 5 years raw material and batch/furnace operation related experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
· Skill in basic production and process of glass fiber
· Knowledge of combustion and glass melting technology or experience
· Analytical skill based on knowledge of process control and statistics of data analysis
· Fluent in Korean and English (writing, reading, hearing and speaking) for international
communication
· Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and statistic program.
· Planning skill based on broad knowledge of business, industry and market.
· Broad knowledge and skill of operator relations and communication with operators
· Trouble shooting with statistical analysis and logical approach
· Knowledge of processes and facilities related to fiberglass.
