Job Description
Job Title: Downline Operator
Department: Operations/Manufacturing
Reports to: Team Leader

SUMMARY
Operates, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots all down line equipment for ULF operations. Tests, communicates results, and documents results of quality testing of all ULF product to assure quality requirements are met. Transfers packaged materials to maintain warehouse FIFO protocols and assists in loading trucks with product for transport to client. Reports any potential discrepant material to Team Leader and provides fiber properties and characteristics for process adjustments to be made. Works to assure maximized quality and safety during operations. Notifies Team Leader to any equipment, quality, or operational complications needing resolution and takes corrective actions within scope of the Downline Operator role.
Principal Operational Duties and Responsibilities
 Follows all Owens Corning safety policies and procedures
 Demonstrate competency in all ULF quality testing including blown density, thermal testing, color testing, and loss on ignition (LOI)
 Perform data entry and monitoring of all quality data collected on shift
 Place bags on bagger equipment snouts to assure proper packaging
 Assign programs and troubleshoot material handling robot to assure proper functionality
 Assure proper bag labeling and placement
 Maintain inkjet label printer and stretch wrapping equipment
 Demonstrate competency in forklift safe operation
 Admix out of specification (OS) product to maximize PJE and reduce waste
 Assist in transport line clean out to assure optimized airflow through transport lines
 Maintain consistent bag weights per product specification between bagger equipment
 Assign programs and troubleshoot bag placing robot as required to assure smooth operation in the downline area
 Notes any process abnormalities and notifies Team Leader to initiate corrective action
 Increase technical aptitude of the fiberglass manufacture process to increase capabilities and understanding of operation
 Transfer packaged product from operations floor to warehouse throughout operations
 Lead and complete bill of lading process and assist with goods receipt process when needed
 Work with warehouse management to understand FIFO system and maneuver product accordingly
 Utilize and appropriately document shipments in SAP software and paperwork
 Assist warehouse personnel in shipping and receiving as required
 Assures clean and orderly housekeeping in all assigned areas at all times
 Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by the NLT and the direct supervisor
AUTHORITY
 Manage downline and quality equipment to operate at maximum efficiency and meet performance expectations
 Notify Team Leader of any process or equipment abnormalities to achieve root cause and corrective action as quickly as possible
 Notify Team Leader of any OS product and observations associated with the product to return process to yielding acceptable material per quality expectations
 Troubleshoot and resolve any bagger equipment issues to maintain maximum efficiency of the operation
 Communicate any equipment complication to Team Leader and the maintenance team

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
The employee must be able to:
 Be proficient with Microsoft Outlook and other Office software
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
 Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
o College degree is preferred
 Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the US
 Must be 18 years or older
 Must be drug and alcohol free
 Related experience and/or industrial training in an industrial environment
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires:
 Exposure to temperature extremes
 Exposure to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
 Handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls
 Lifting/carrying/moving up to 50 pounds
 Regular attendance on site and the ability to work shift schedule
 Wearing respirator protection and other required PPE
 Participates in the safety and good housekeeping programs as established within the plant
