PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for leading the maintenance team through the reliability performance, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electronic devices throughout the plant consistent with the experience as is outlined below. This employee functions as a subject matter expert and go-to person for Maintenance Technicians which includes reacting to process and equipment issues through troubleshooting, preventative and predictive maintenance, as well as elimination of special cause variation, as well as planning and general oversight of day to day work. This individual is expected to be a culture ambassador, exhibit a strong sense of our safety identity, as well as driving quality and optimizing plant efficiency.

Reports to: Process Leader

 

Span of Control:  This position has no direct reports but does have direct influence of the Maintenance team of 8, which functions within the larger scope of the Lakeland plant at a headcount of 48.

 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Living the safety stand and adhering to safety responsibilities

  • Ensure employees completion of all required safety training
  • Implement a personal safety action plan and review with leader
  • Ensures a safe work environment through employee coaching and engagement and strict adherence to OC’s safety policies and procedures while conducting environmental and quality activities.   
  • Participates in the investigation of safety incidents and leads root cause analysis to drive for permanent resolution.
  • Lead with TPM Methodology and help drive the execution of TPM throughout the floor.

Leading and Developing Talent.

  • Engages all teams to collaboratively own the success of the business by contributing to continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, cost, productivity, etc.
  • Provides candid feedback on expectations and performance to members of the team on a regular basis, and drives appropriate actions for further improvement.
  • Implements and documents corrective action when performance issues occur.
  • Further develop maintenance training plans and create a continuous learning environment for employees
  • Effectively lead and manage change for his/her workgroup while maintaining high levels of employee engagement.  
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders to ensure team members are well trained and up to date on certifications required to perform the full scope of the job.

Directing Maintenance Operations

  • Works closely with the Production Department in a team-based environment that is designed to manage in a manner that will ensure continuously improving machine performance and employee efficiency.
  • Ensures the routine mechanical maintenance of Plant and is Responsible for all aspects of the Mechanical Maintenance Operations.
  • Development and execution of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs.
  • Ensures the Plant needs for maintenance services are prioritized and managed.
  • Grow the service and quality culture in the department and meet / exceed established goals.  
  • Become a technical resource regarding the insulation manufacturing process, equipment and protocols
  • Technical knowledge in mechanical drive systems, fluid power systems, pumping systems, mixing systems, data acquisition, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for reliability performance and cost improvement 
  • Performs root cause analysis in partnership with key stakeholders to address quality issues, and resolves those issues in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes proper resourcing to meet cost targets.
  • Verify time and attendance reports ensuring processing and production needs are met.
  • Ensures smooth transition of work hand offs shift to shift and between maintenance and operations.
  • Ability to perform all required maintenance tasks as required when not actively performing Coordinator duties.

Leads Continuous Improvement Activities

  • Leverages standard work to minimize variation and waste.
  • Leads focused Improvement activities to improve process capability and efficiencies, reduce costs, and eliminate waste.
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders to optimize process and drive continuous improvement initiative.
  • Participates in and leads Kaizen and 5S events in various work areas throughout plant.
  • Leads product qualification efforts with the support of key stakeholders.
     

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
     

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years work experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related environment required.
  • Predictive/Preventive Maintenance and Reliability Engineering experiences are highly desired.
  • LEAN Six Sigma and continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • Experience operating heavy industry process equipment is preferred (Coke/Coal fired blast furnaces (Cupola) Air Compressors and distribution, and several process water supply systems).
  • Certified Millwright or Electrician
     

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Computer literacy—MRP systems (SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite, Kronos
  • Ability to work extended/Flexible hours
  • Ability to create and drive change and effectively communicate to all levels in the organization
  • Must be highly organized and able to adapt to constantly changing demands and priorities.
