Engineering Lead - Tooling

The Tooling Lead will be responsible for ownership of all interior and exterior compression molding tooling within the mill.  This will consist of managing the entire tooling inventory, responsibility for design, input on sourcing, continuous improvement efforts, technical troubleshooting, and qualification of new tooling in production. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design of new tooling and design modifications to existing tooling
  • Locate and select sourcing for tooling machining, chrome plating, coating, etc.
  • Offers input on how to optimize use of existing tooling in production
  • Identifies and leads continuous improvement project opportunities to lower cost or reduce defects
  • Determines which tools are in need of replacement and which products require new tooling to support demand
  • Develops and ensures compliance with QA checks of purchased tooling
  • Helps establish process parameters that optimize flash and other tooling performance metrics
  • Create and update drawings in Autocad

 

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar program
  • 5+ years of hands-on product engineering design experience from the concept to the mass production phases
  • Familiar with Autocad in tooling design
