Safety Lead - Manager

Proactively administers and executes all facility plans, programs, and policies related to Safety.  Serves as the site leader ensuring compliance through training, auditing, and certifications.  Manages Safety team and site in support of Owens Corning’s Safety Mission.  Liaison to other Owens Corning sites as well as corporate operations, safety, environmental and legal personnel.   

Roles and Responsibilities:

Develops, implements, conducts, and documents employee related training including; safety programs, injury case management, hearing tests, security, forklift management, and plant-wide town hall meetings. Responsible for management and compliance of all OSHA regulations. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, and regulations for all safety and health programs including corporate requirements.

Health:

Responsible for promoting a healthy work environment via implementing and monitoring ergonomically sound practices and procedures

Fosters a culture of preventative health related issues and.

Works in conjunction with both onsite and offsite health specialists, i.e. company nurse, local clinic, worker’s comp provider, etc. 

Safety:

Provides coaching, auditing, and training employees in safe behavioral safety activity to promote a safe working environment and increase safety awareness

Conducts and monitors incident reporting and investigations

Inspects facilities to identify existing or potentially hazardous conditions

Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication within the organization, leads the employee safety committee, and works closely with department managers and employees

Analyzes and updates policies, procedures and plans in accordance with governmental or company guidelines

Identifies monitors, evaluates and tracks all safety activities through audits, statistical analysis and computerized record keeping

Review and ensure safety SOPs and training records are up to date

 

Qualifications

Minimum bachelor’s degree in safety or related field

Minimum 5-7 years related safety compliance experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Experience in designing and delivering various related training program.

5-7 years of demonstrated, progressive safety experience.
