PURPOSE OF THE JOB
As an Plant Foreman/OMC, the employee will lead the interface between operations and maintenance as well as coordinate the production schedule for the Asphalt Plant. This job requires excellent self-direction working alone or in small teams with little direct supervision.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with all safety and plant requirements individually and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety
- Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance training, TPM, 5’s and housekeeping programs as established within the plant
- Plan, prioritize, and schedule all maintenance tasks with a weekly schedule. This is just a reword for the 3rd bullet point.

- Run the daily and weekly maintenance approval meetings. Reword for bullet point 12.
- Run the weekly planning meetings .
- Involved in annual OPA-90 exercises.
- Run our tank cleaning schedule to ensure safe tank operations.
- Run contractor projects which will include some of the capital projects.
- Maintain the spare parts room.
- Prioritize what maintenance work needs attention – work closely with Maintenance team and support maintenance technicians when on site
- Assist with day-to-day operations, including covering for breaks when needed
- Take customer orders and update the production schedule daily
- Meet team expectations such as reliability, teamwork, and process improvement
- Assist with coordinating production changes within the facility
- Order parts as necessary and Goods issue parts from work orders
- Monitor critical equipment – pre-heater, hot oil, incinerator, blowers, boiler (quick walk through daily)
- Attend the daily/weekly DAM and shift huddle meetings
- Support maintenance job plans
- Come in on weekends when necessary to support critical maintenance tasks
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES for Interim Operations Leader
- Find ways to ensure production employees understand the need of the customer and that they can see how their work affects the customer directly.
- Perform and ensure proper documentation of training and cross training of all employees as necessary to maintain a flexible work environment capable of meeting varied demands. Ensure technical competence of employees.
- Encourage all employees to build strong working relationships and communication through sharing, respect, candor, integrity, innovation, accountability, and fun.
- Facilitate development and implementation of data collection and process control in order to enhance manufacturing processes. Lead TPM efforts and teams to get plant employee-generated improvements.
- Perform value-added daily huddles that enhance safe, quality and optimized quality and productivity.
- Use electronic systems for all employees on plant communications, and ensure employees regularly utilize company-provided systems to maintain current on plant/division/company information disseminated through that resource.
- Personally lead, engage in and encourage direct reports to engage in voice of the employee continuous improvement activities. Drive to root cause solution of process issues to diminish repeating problems relentlessly.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Certified as an Asphalt 1st class operator and must hold a Certified Boiler license
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Preferred to have completed leadership training

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
- Must be able to operate a computer including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Access databases (Title V), as well as web-based tools
- Must be able to learn and use SAP
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Exposure to temperature extremes – working outside in hot / cold temperatures
- Prolonged sitting or standing for 12 hour shifts
- Repetitive movements – bending, twisting, lifting, pulling
- Transition from kneeling/sitting to standing position on a repetitive basis
- Turn valves or other equipment, including using a valve wrench
- Moving heavy hoses (potentially filled with asphalt)
- Crouching / awkward positioning required to work underneath rail cars
- Handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls
- Ability to move up to 40 pounds/lift up to 40lbs in a single event/35 lbs in a repetitive event
- Walking/working on uneven surfaces, Working from heights
- Able to climb ladders/stairs to reach the top of tanks or equipment (maximum 50 ft)
