SUMMARY

The Buildings & Grounds position is an hourly position, and reports to the Maintenance Leader.  The employee is responsible for maintaining the general cleanliness of the roofing production facilities and the roofing and asphalt grounds. This position will require flexible schedule at times based on winter conditions and coordination with safety representative (i.e. overnight snowstorms).

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain buildings, attachments, and grounds by:

 

  • Prioritize and manage daily work schedules
  • Mowing, tree trimming, weed trimming, and landscaping
  • Operate and use battery powered ‘walk behind’ floor sweeper.
  • Operate and use battery powered ‘walk behind’ floor cleaner.
  • Operate and use propane powered ‘ride one floor sweeper.
  • Total clean-up of ‘Break Room’ at start of week.
  • Maintain plant lighting- replacing lamps as required.
  • Sweeping aisle daily.
  • Wipe down guard rails along aisle.
  • Maintain, clean and organized, areas including Air Compressor rooms, Hot oil rooms, Preheater room, MCC rooms and Storeroom area.
  • Maintain hazardous waste area; clean as needed and organized.
  • Painting and scraping as required to include floor epoxy application.
  • Salt application during icy and snow accumulation periods.
  • Snow shoveling as and where needed, weather related adaptability.
  • Drive snowplow truck to remove snow in parking lots (Cold weather)
  • Drive and operate the Skid Steer plow attachment to clear parking lots (Cold weather)
  • Drive and operate the Skid Steer bucket attachment to clear parking lots (Cold weather)
  • Drive and operate the Skid Steer with attachment sweeper to clean parking lots (Warm weather)
  • Drive and operate the Skid Steer with grappler attachment to clean seconds hills (Any weather)
  • Safely operate aerial lift equipment such as boom lift. and scissor lifts.
  • Monitor & maintain cleanliness of exterior work areas.
  • Distribution of delivered janitorial supplies.
  • Follow and enforce all safety rules and procedures, training, and initiatives
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas.
  • Participate on safety teams.
  • Participate on process teams.
  • Participate on TPM activities.
  • Other tasks as directed or required

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

A strong candidate must be able to:

 

  • Log into computer and navigate the intranet to view paycheck/benefit information.
  • Log into and navigate Owens Corning Learning portal to complete required online training routinely

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Completed and passed lift truck training programs and have a valid forklift operator license
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

A strong candidate should possess the ability to:

 

  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs. with assistance
  • Work for up to 8 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment
  • Operate/sit/drive, as required during shift work lasting 8-12 hours.
  • Routinely ascend and descend stairs and forklift to enter work areas
  • Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – steel toed shoes, ear plugs, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for task.
  • Push/drive floor sweeping and cleaning equipment or tools as necessary for housekeeping duties.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
