SUMMARY
The role of the Preventative Maintenance Technician, or PdM Technician, is perform preventative maintenance routes and collect and analyze data related to the designated equipment. This position primarily focuses on vibration, thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasound diagnostics.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety
- Comply with all Lock-Tag-Try (LTT) procedures.
- Fix and report all unsafe work conditions.
- Notify member of Minneapolis Leadership Team in the case of any accident, near miss, or on-the-job injury.
- Leads by example and assists/encourages operators to achieve 100% safety engagement.
Maintenance
- Perform PdM routes, collect and analyze data on efficiency and condition of equipment.
- Obtains readings and measurements utilizing PDM technologies including Infrared Imaging, Ultrasonic, and Oil Analysis.
- Builds and maintain databases/routes, develop baselines, trend data, interpret results, create and execute corrective work orders and optimize PM’s and PDM’s
- Perform follow up data collection on all work orders stemming from the predictive program to confirm problem resolution; investigates problems related to data findings.
- Tracks performance data related to the PdM program (i.e. route adherence, PdM backlog, etc.)
- Identifies gaps in the data collection process; provides solutions to eliminate gaps.
- Partners with third party analysis contractors to collect and deliver all data in a timely manner.
- Performs lubrication routes for all identified equipment at appropriate cadence.
- Oversees lubrication program and routes.
- Maintains the lubrication room cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Tracks efficiency of automated lubrication systems; perform biweekly audits of all auto-lubrication units throughout the facility.
- Participates on monthly PdM divisional calls; reports data findings as necessary
- Works with Maintenance Planner, Buyer and Storeroom Clerk to optimize spares inventory to meet OC financial goals and customer demand
- Maintains and organize PdM equipment.
- Oversees predictive equipment calibration, service, etc.
- Assists training maintenance technicians on alignment techniques.
- Assists training maintenance technicians on predictive maintenance fundamentals.
- Assists in repair and maintenance of plant equipment during scheduled down days.
- Operates lift truck and scissor lift to transport and/or obtain access to equipment.
- Provide backup support for Planner, Scheduler, MRO.
- Oversees and tracks Maintenance BDA’s using FI tools.
- Oversees and publish MP Sheets
- Must obtain and maintain certifications in Vibration Level 2,
- Must obtain Noria Machine Lubrication Level 2,
- Must obtain Thermographic, Ultrasound Level 2
- Must obtain Maintenance Tech 1st class level.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by the Maintenance leader.
TPM
- Assist in lubrication PM to AM task transfer training
- Heavy involvement in the PM Pillar
- Support AM teams, ensuring TPM related tags are processed and tracked in SAP.
Projects
- Self-motivated to search equipment improvements.
- Coordinate with other Maintenance personnel and assist in reliability projects.
- Build relationships with vendors and suppliers to improve or implement new equipment upgrades.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The employee should hold the following skills and abilities:

- Demonstrate the ability to make decisions based on facts and / or data including having the technical skills to analyze data, interpret graphs, and combine related data.
- Must be able to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal direct supervision.
- Demonstrated mechanical, electrical and controls aptitude. Strong troubleshooting skills in all areas.
- Solid foundation in Reliable Work Practices (RWP) and SAP interface.
- Perform all TPM duties necessary to ensure the safety of the plant and drive to successful attainment of zero losses, zero defects, and zero injuries.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- CMMS (preferably SAP) experience.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5-year experience in a Maintenance team. Preferably as a 1st Class Mechanic or Multi-Trade Technician.
- Manufacturing or process related experience.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
- Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs. With assistance
- Work up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment
- Walk/stand on concrete floor, as required during shift work lasting 8-12 hours
- Routinely ascend and descend stairs and ladders.
- Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary for task
- Use cleaning equipment or tools as necessary for housekeeping duties in accordance with all safety rules
- Ability to work overtime as necessary
